Punjab Kings (PBKS) came to the IPL 2025 with a lot of expectations. They signed the former Delhi Capitals’ coach, Ricky Ponting, who decided to go all-out for his former captain, Shreyas Iyer. It was a bonus that both had previously worked together in 2019 and 2020.

PBKS started the campaign with five victories in the first half of the tournament. Iyer and Ponting installed freedom among the batters, who didn’t fear the loss of wickets and were aggressive in scoring the runs.

It’s always important for any franchise to earn dominance with their performance in the tournament. Thanks to the previous victory against the Rajasthan Royals (RR), PBKS has already qualified for the playoffs, but they hope to win both their last games to confirm the top two spots on the points table.

Their captain has contributed 435 runs in 12 innings at a strike rate of 174.69, shouldering four half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 97 runs. Prabhsimran Singh has also smashed 458 runs in 12 innings at an average of 38.16 and a strike rate of 171.53, with the help of four fifties at the best score of 91 runs.

Here are the three PBKS players who will retire after the IPL 2025

1. Marcus Stoinis

The Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis retired from the 50-over format just before the Champions Trophy 2025. That could lead the veteran to take another tough decision of hanging up his shoes from the shortest format.

With the ball, he has picked up 158 scalps in 197 innings at an economy rate of just over nine.

He could aim to end his T20 career just after the end of the IPL 2025. In this season for PBKS, he cracked 82 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 170 before getting dropped from the side.

2. Lockie Ferguson

The expressive pacer, Lockie Ferguson, has been injury-prone in the last few seasons of the league. Even in 2025, he was ruled out of the event with an injury.

The Auckland-born, in his T20 career, has picked up 218 wickets in 179 innings at an average of 22.31 and a strike rate of 17.30, with an economy rate of 7.72, thanks to eight four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul at the bowling figure of 5/21 in an innings.

After a couple of struggling IPL seasons, the PBKS all-rounder could decide to retire from the T20s.
