After the crazy performance during the last season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), where the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) finished as the runners-up of the tournament, expectations grew a lot more from the batters, and many predicted that they could notch 300 runs in an innings.
One of the reasons for Hyderabad to do well in the previous season was the aggressive opening partnership between Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma.
Pat Cummins, the leader of the side, was excellent with his leadership and carrying the entire dressing room together. Some of his tactics with the ball and giving freedom to the batters worked well for the side.
Most of their foreign and Indian players are young enough to perform in both the batting and bowling departments. That has lacked experience in the franchise during this ongoing season.
Travis Head’s performance for SRH in the opening position has backfired on the team a lot, while the spinners have not come to the party on the slow touring venues.

Going into the next edition, SRH will look to retain a very few members of this side and can start fresh, especially in the bowling department, both for the spinners and the pacers.
Here are the 3 SRH players who will retire after the IPL 2025
1. Mohammed Shami
The Bengal pacer and the veteran Indian fast bowler, Mohammed Shami, has been a premier bowler in the ODI and Test formats. However, his record in the shortest format has not been pleasant.
In this year’s IPL, the SRH fast bowler has collected only six wickets in nine innings at an average of 56.16 and a strike rate of 30, with an economy rate of 11.23, thanks to the bowling figure of 2/28 in an innings.
Shami hasn’t been the same fast bowler after returning from the injury. He has done well in the recent Champions Trophy 2025, but his performance with the ball in the powerplay and the death overs has been underwhelming.
The SRH pacer could pay his entire focus and attention to the ODI and Test cricket and retire from T20s after the end of the IPL 2025.
2. Jaydev Unadkat
The left-arm fast bowler of the Indian side, Jaydev Unadkat, has varied his pace beautifully in the death overs to fox the batters during the last five overs of the innings. In 109 innings of the league, he has collected 106 wickets at an average of 31.12 and an economy rate of 8.89.
The 33-year-old pacer has been a part of many franchises, and that proves his underwhelming performance with the ball. In this year’s IPL, the veteran has claimed seven wickets in five innings at an average of 15.71 and an economy rate of just under seven.
Unadkat has done well in first-class cricket of late and also made his appearance back in the red-ball side of India. That could push the SRH pacer to retire from the shortest format after the IPL 2025.

3. Sachin Baby
The left-handed batter, Sachin Baby, is already been 36 years old. In the last five seasons, he has featured in just two games to add seven runs.
The only edition, when he took a huge part in the IPL, was in 2016 for the RCB side, when he clubbed 119 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 150.63.
Most teams have ignored the batter in the past, and that can lead the Kerala-born to make a huge decision of retiring from the T20s.
