The bond of the father-son duo is very unique, and very few of those have shared the stage in international cricket. A few years ago, the former West Indies batter, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, and his son, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, put on 256 runs in a 40-over club game. That was a beautiful moment with both of them celebrating their respective centuries.
A couple of years ago, the Netherlands faced Pakistan in Hyderabad during the 2023 ODI World Cup when the star all-rounder, Bas de Leede, joined his father, Tim, in representing the same side at the ODI World Cup.
Here is the list of five father-son duos to play international cricket
1. Chris and Stuart Broad (England)
The former England opening batter, Chris Broad, wasn’t a huge name for England in international cricket, with 1661 runs in 25 Tests at an average of nearly 40 and 1361 runs in 34 ODI innings, with seven international centuries. But he shared a great father-son duo with Stuart.

His son, Stuart, however, earned so much success for the national side across formats. The right-arm pacer picked up 604 wickets in 167 Tests at an average of 27.68 and a strike rate of 55.7, celebrating 20 five-wicket hauls.
2. Sunil and Rohan Gavaskar (India)
The former Indian captain and opening batter, Sunil Gavaskar, is a renowned name in world cricket, especially for his fearless batting approach against a strong West Indies side from the past. He smashed 10122 runs in 125 red-ball games for India at an average of 51.12 and 34 centuries, a record that stood for over a decade. Sunil’s father-son duo was not as successful.
His son, Rohan Gavaskar, meanwhile, didn’t collect the same success with the bat. He was part of only 10 ODI innings to smash 151 runs, thanks to a fifty for the national side. For Bengal, in first-class cricket, Rohan made 6938 runs in 181 innings at an average of 44.19 and 18 centuries.
3. Sachin and Arjun Tendulkar (India)
There is hardly any better batter for world cricket than Sachin Tendulkar, who has broken all the records in his name. Despite retiring from the game for more than 12 years, he is still the leading run-getter across formats with 34357 runs in 782 innings at an average of 48.52 and a strike rate of 67.58, thanks to 100 centuries and 164 half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 248 runs.
Tendulkar also had the same experience as Gavaskar in the father-son duo.
Arjun, his son, decided to become a left-arm pacer. Even getting half of his father’s quality would have brought so much success for the national side, but it isn’t a walk in the park. Arjun has grabbed 37 first-class wickets in 28 innings and hasn’t cemented his place yet at the age of 25.
4. Lala and Mohinder Amarnath (India)
Lala Amarnath started playing for India before independence in 1933 as a wicket-keeper batter and got 878 runs in 40 innings at an average of 24.38, thanks to one century and four fifties. However, he made 10426 runs and picked up 463 wickets in the first-class format.

In his father-son duo, Mohinder had a decent career for the national side with 4328 runs in 113 Test innings at an average of 42.50 and 1924 ODI runs in 75 innings at an average of around 30.
5. Roger and Stuart Binny (India)
It’s another up-and-down father-son duo for India. Roger Binny, the former all-rounder and the current president of the BCCI, played 99 games for India to pick 124 wickets and smashing 1459 runs.
His son, Stuart, had a short career for the blue brigade, for 20 international games to score 424 runs and pick up 23 wickets in the ODIs and Tests.
