The Gujarat Titans (GT) have been the most consistent and powerful franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the top position, with nine victories in 12 group-stage encounters at a net run rate of +0.795. One of the biggest contributors to the side was the opening partnership between Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill.
Gujarat has defended a lot in the top order to smash the runs around the park. However, it’s important to keep a balance on the side. In the presence of the Indian pacers and foreign fast bowlers, they have been strong even in the bowling department, in the presence of Rashid Khan.
However, there are a few players whom GT will want to get rid of before the 2026 season of the tournament.
Here are the five players GT must release before the IPL 2026
1. Ishant Sharma
By the start of the next season of the tournament, the veteran Indian pacer, Ishant Sharma, will be around 37. In this season of the event, he picked up just four wickets in seven innings at an average of 51.25 and an economy rate of 11.18, and a strike rate of 27.5 with the best bowling figure of 1/18 in an inning.

Ishant looked tired and nearly down under the heat during their game against the Delhi Capitals in Ahmedabad. Fitness will be a challenge for the pacer, and GT may look to find some freshness in the squad for the new season.
2. Arshad Khan
The 27-year-old, Arshad Khan, has picked up five wickets in seven innings for GT in this edition. However, the pacer has an economy rate of 8.68, which is decent enough. Gujarat claimed the fast bowler for a price of INR 1.30 crore.
If they want, then the management can try to release the pacer before the new season and find a good replacement, or look to rebuy the pacer for a lower price.
3. Karim Janat
Karim Janat had a tough time for the Gujarat side this year in’s IPL. He came to the franchise for a price of INR 75 lakh, but in the six balls he bowled, Janat leaked 30 runs against Rohit Sharma, who bashed the batter for five sixes.
Leaving Janat will add INR 75 lakh for the franchise in the purse going into the next season, and that will boost the side for a few new members in the mini auction.
4. Glenn Phillips
Glenn Phillips couldn’t play a lot of games for the 2022 champions after he injured himself during the clash against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium and was ruled out of the season.

Phillips came into the side for a price of INR 2 crore. He has done well in this format across the globe with his ability to bat in the lower order and contribute with a few overs of spin. Phillips is undoubtedly an important member of any franchise, and GT can rebuy him for a lower price.
5. Gerald Coetzee
In Kagiso Rabada’s presence, GT couldn’t give many chances to Gerald Coetzee. But even in his absence, he didn’t play any game as the focus for the management shifted towards the Indian experienced pacers, and that was a sign of the franchise probably releasing Coetzee before the 2026 season.
This year, in two group-stage clashes, Coetzee picked up two wickets at an average of 23 and a strike rate of 18 with the best bowling figure of 1/18 in an innings.
