Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is already out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 and standing at the eighth position in the points table with eight victories in 11 group-stage encounters at a net run rate of -1.192.
Hyderabad began the competition with a victory over the Rajasthan Royals in a run-fest at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Many thought they would smash a few huge scores on the board by the end of the season, but they didn’t work out in the middle of the event.
SRH, since the victory over the Royals, faced four successive defeats before earning their victory over the Punjab Kings. However, it again took them three games to get their win to get eliminated out of the season.
Under Pat Cummins' captaincy, Hyderabad missed a solid middle-order batter on the side, who could build the innings after they lost a few regular wickets.
Here are the five players SRH must release before IPL 2026
1. Mohammed Shami
The premier Indian pacer, Mohammed Shami, after injury, couldn’t make a huge impact for the Sunrisers. He picked up just six wickets in nine innings at an average of 56.16 and a strike rate of 30.

His economy rate of 11.32 has costed so many runs in the powerplay and death overs for the Bengal pacer, which may push the SRH management to leave him before the mini auction. They can also get him back for a lower price in the auction.
2. Ishan Kishan
The southpaw wicket-keeper batter, Ishan Kishan, collected 196 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 144.11 and an average of 24.50 in this season. Out of those, the first innings offered 106 runs, which showed how he struggled since then and has hardly been able to make a difference with the bat.
SRH may look to get back Kishan in the mini auction or look for a better batter, who would fit into the playing eleven better.
3. Rahul Chahar
Sunrisers giving chances to Zeshan Ansari over Rahul Chahar is a sign of the franchise, and the captain displayed more faith in the youngster. That could push the management to end their relationship with the spinner who featured in just one game this year against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.
Leaving Chahar will also increase the purse for the 2016 winners and they could plan better for the new season.
4. Wiaan Mulder
Wiaan Mulder isn’t a renowned T20 all-rounder and came as a replacement for Brydon Carse, who got injured just before the start of the season. The all-rounder featured in one game for the SRH side to score nine runs with the bat and leak 16 in one over.
In place of Mulder, it will be valid for the franchise to go for someone Indian, who they can at least add to the playing eleven. In Cummins’ captaincy, SRH’s three overseas slots are always packed, including the captain, Travis Head, and wicket-keeper Heinrich Klaassen.

Hence, the smart move will be to get a young player on the team.
5. Adam Zampa
The veteran Australian leg-spinner, Adam Zampa, has earned success around the world in the shortest format. But he failed to repeat the same dominance for Hyderabad this year.
Zampa was smacked for 94 runs in his eight overs at an economy rate of 11.75 in just two games, before getting ruled out of the event with an injury. His form will be a major reason for the Sunrisers to release him before the 2026 season.
