The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced their new list for the men’s contracts in the 2025 season, as they reverted to the categorized players’ monthly salaries based on their salaries after a few years of giving out the contracts based on which format the player featured in.
Taskin Ahmed, the senior pacer, who has already enjoyed over 240 international wickets in 180 innings, is the only player in the A-plus category. He will receive BDT 1 million (USD 8200 approx.) per month this year, after being in the white-ball category last year.

ESPNcricinfo has reported that the board has changed the salary policy from format-based to grad-based for the benefit of the Test specialists. In the previous policy, the board found it difficult to properly reward their Test players cricketers.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s operations chairman, Najmul Abedeen Fahim, reckoned that a recent board meeting has pushed them to decide to reward the Test players.
Their captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, is among the four players in the Grade A, for which the salary is BDT 800000 (USD 6600 approx.) per month. It’s a step up for the leader of the national side in the second category, as the captain generally remains in the top department of the contract under any policy.
Grade A also included Mushfiqur Rahim, who recently announced his retirement from the 50-over format. That pushed him down to Grade B, where the salary is BDT 600,000 (USD 4900 approx.) per month.
The fast bowler of the side, Nahid Rana, is also in the B-category for Bangladesh and is among the four newcomers to get a contract, the other being Jaker Ali, Tanzid Hasan and Rishad Hossain, who are all placed in Grade C with a salary of BDT 400,000 (USD 3.300 approx.) per month.
Bangladesh Cricket mentioned in its press release that Mahmudullah, who turned 39 last month, requested the board not to consider him for the central contracts list after February 2025. Soumya Sarkar and Shadman Islam return to the BCB central contract for the first time since 2021 and 2022, respectively.
None of Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Naeem Hasan, Nurul Hasan, Zakir Hasan, and Shakib Al Hasan are part of the contract this time despite being there in the last contract.

Bangladesh’s poor performance in the Champions Trophy 2025
Bangladesh’s captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, reckoned that they would go into the Champions Trophy to lift it. But at 35/5 against India in the opening clash, their dream was about to break. Towhid Hridoy’s fine century pushed them to 228 runs, which proved quite short for the win.

They displayed a full fight against New Zealand in the second encounter in Rawalpindi, but again, that was not enough. Their poor fielding made it tough for the Bangladesh side to keep the Kiwis at bay.
The last group-stage clash against Pakistan at the same venue ended in a no-result as they returned home with the second worst team of the group in the Champions Trophy with one point in three clashes.
