BCCI Bans Mumbai T20 League Franchise Co-Owner

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a strict stand against match-fixing, as Justice Arun Mishra has banned the former co-owner of the Mumbai T20 League franchise, Gurmeet Singh Bhamrah.
Gurmeet has been banned for attempting a corrupt match-fixing approach to players like Dhawal Kulkarni and Bhavin Thakkar during the 2019 season of the league. Even in the past, he was part of the now-defunct GT20 Canada and is no longer part of the Mumbai league.
After his suspension during the COVID-19 pandemic following the 2019 season, the tournament will begin this year.
BCCI bans Gurmeet Singh Bhamrah for match-fixing scandal
In the order copy, they did not mention the length of the ban. They are expecting it to be between five years and a life ban under the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Code.

“Upon completion of the investigation, ACU submitted its report wherein it recommended that respondent be charged with article 2.1.3, 2.1.4, 2.4.1 read with article 2.5.1 and article 2.5.2 of the BCCI Anti-Corruption Code (hereinafter the 'Code') for participants.” The order copy sheds light.
“ACU further recommended that appropriate orders may be passed against the respondent under the provisions of Article 4 and Article 5 of the Code.” The order was addressed.
BCCI reveals the main culprit behind match-fixing
The BCCI copy also mentions that a person named Sonu Vasan approached Thakkar to fix the games and was sent by Bhamrah. Gurmeet was referred to as ‘Paaji’ by the player. On the other hand, regarding Kulkarni, the order addressed that the statement was recorded by the ACU.
“Transcript of the conversation shows that Sonu Vasan offered money and other benefits to Bhavin Thakkar at the behest of the respondent. Upon meriting the entire offer that he made on behalf of the respondent, Sonu Vasan told Bhavin Thakkar whatever call Thakkar wishes to take in the matter, Vasan would relay it back to the respondent.” The copy states.
“Even before Thakkar's denial to be a part of wrongdoing, Vasan also mentioned that he was asked by 'Paaji' that in case Thakkar's reply was in the affirmative to the offer of under-performing/wrongdoing, 'Paaji' asked that he i.e. the respondent could be joined in on the same telephone call.” It has been expressed.
MCA Sets Shocking Mandatory Rule For Veteran Players
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has made it mandatory for Indian players to participate in the upcoming Mumbai T20 League. They have decided to appoint Rohit Sharma, the current ODI and Test captain of the national side, as the league's face.
Openers Ajinkya Rahane and Prithvi Shaw, the middle order batters Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Suryakumar Yadav, and the pace all-rounder, Shardul Thakur, should play the league as per the regulations have expressed.

“All Mumbai’s Indian players have been informed that they have to play the T20 Mumbai League, which will begin after the IPL. It’s mandatory unless those who have an India commitment or injury issues can skip.” The official has informed in a statement.
Around 2800 players have recorded their names for the upcoming T20 league. It will start just the day after the final of IPL 2025 happens.
They had also included two more new franchises after discussions with the BCCI. In 2018, they had six sides in the event- North Mumbai Panthers, ARCS Andheri, Triumph Knights Mumbai North East, Namo Bandra Blasters, Eagle Thane Strikers, and Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs.
