Jasprit Bumrah, ace India pacer, is a huge threat to the Pakistan team in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but head coach Aaqib Javed has downplayed the seriousness concerning the pacer.
Despite Bumrah's history of terrifying performances, notably his superb spell against Australia, Javed feels Pakistan should not base their strategy primarily on the Indian pacer.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be Pakistan hosting its first ICC event since the 1996 World Cup. The eight-team tournament will be played from February 19 to March 2, with India playing its games in Dubai, UAE.

Won’t plan anything around Jasprit Bumrah: Aaqib Javed on Pakistan’s tactics
Following his remarkable exploits in 2024, when Jasprit Bumrah was the leading wicket-taker in international cricket, there has been widespread curiosity about his participation in the competition.
In a recent press conference, Javed acknowledged Bumrah’s quality but emphasized that Pakistan would not be specifically focusing on him.
"They should be worried about Bumrah's fitness. When you play in the Champions Trophy, the most beautiful thing about it is you can't take any team lightly. The top eight best teams are playing. If any team has a bowler like Bumrah, it is a plus point. But it is not like we will plan everything around him," Aaqib told reporters, as per Times of India.
Jasprit Bumrah’s three wickets were the catalyst for India’s win against Pakistan in the last ICC event they met in the T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA.
Rohit Sharma gives update on Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness
India's captain, Rohit Sharma, issued a fitness report, saying that the squad was awaiting the findings of Jasprit Bumrah's scan, which would shed further light on his participation in the event.
"Jasprit, obviously, we're waiting on some update about his scan, which is due to happen in the next few days. We're just waiting on that update, which is going to happen in the next few days, the scan. Then, probably, we'll have a little more clarity about his participation in the last ODI," Rohit said in the pre-match press conference ahead of the first ODI against England.
Despite his current fitness issues, Bumrah's contribution to the game cannot be overstated. In 2024, he took the most wickets in international cricket, with 86 in 21 matches at an average of 13.76, including four four-wicket hauls and five five-wicket hauls. His great year included outstanding efforts in Tests, as he grabbed 71 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 14.92.
