Chennai Super Kings Squad Rating For IPL 2025

Chennai Super Kings’ positives for the IPL 2025

For the bowling department, the biggest positive for the Chennai Super Kings was the Afghanistan left-arm wrist spinner, Noor Ahmed, who finished with 24 scalps in 14 innings at an average of 17 and an economy rate of 8.16, thanks to a couple of four-wicket hauls at the best figure of 4/18 in an inning.

In the batting department, Chennai’s replacements were the biggest light in the campaign. Ayush Mhatre, the opener, smashed 240 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 188.97, while Dewald Brevis drilled 225 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 180.

Meanwhile, Shivam Dube continued his dominance with 357 runs at a strike rate of 132.22. Khaleel Ahmed was decent with the new ball in the powerplay overs, while Anshul Kamboj was phenomenal with the hard length deliveries to create pressure on the opposition batters.

Chennai Super Kings’ Negatives in IPL 2025

The list of negatives for the 2023 champions is heavier than the positives. Their opening stand didn’t click in terms of power before Mhatre’s inclusion. None of their middle-order batters, including Rahul Tripathi, Deepak Hooda, and Vijay Shankar, could contribute with the bat.

The management went hard at Ravichandran Ashwin in the bowling department. However, his expensive spells with the lack of wickets didn’t help the side in this event. Ravindra Jadeja, who ended with 301 runs in 14 innings this year, was not up to the mark with the ball.

Depending on how things have gone for the competition, Chennai has got 7/10 at the end of the season. Even though a few changes are needed to make going into the IPL 2026, their replacements are a crucial factor for the new season. Ruturaj Gaikwad will be back to lead the franchise.

However, questions remain about whether MS Dhoni will return to the core for another season next year.
