When asked to select the best cricket player of the previous 25 years, Cheteshwar Pujara made an unexpected decision. Ben Stokes, England's best all-round player, was selected by the Indian Test specialist.

Pujara stated in an interview with ESPNcricinfo that he wished to select an all-round player.

“I would go with Ben Stokes. I would pick an all-rounder for this,” Pujara said during the interaction with ESPNCricinfo.

Ben Stokes has had a remarkable influence on contemporary cricket. Historic events such as England's 2019 World Cup victory, the thrilling Headingley Test victory, and the team's aggressive 'Bazball' revolution were all made possible by Stokes.

Since making his Test debut in 2013, Stokes has participated in 110 games, scoring 6,719 runs at an average of 35.55, with 13 hundreds and a maximum of 258. He has collected 210 wickets with the ball at an average of 32.37, with his best numbers being 6/22.

In 114 ODIs, Stokes has amassed 3,463 runs at an average of 41.23, including five hundreds. In ODIs, he has also taken 74 wickets, with his best bowling stats being 5/61. In the ODI World Cup 2019 final, he was named Player of the Match.

Cheteshwar Pujara eyes India comeback for England test tour

During the forthcoming five-match Test series against England, which is scheduled for June through August of this year, Cheteshwar Pujara hopes to make a great return. India lost to Australia by 209 runs in the 2023 World Test Championship final, where Pujara last played for his country.
