Virat Kohli assisted in yet another successful chase in a high-profile competition on Tuesday, adding 84 runs to his ODI score total. India advanced to the Champions Trophy final versus Australia thanks to the fifty.

Australia had batted first and posted 264 runs inside 50 overs with Steve Smith scoring 73 and Alex Carey making 61 runs. For India, Mohammed Shami took 3 wickets while spinners CV Varun and Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets each.

With the possible exception of a missed opportunity and his eventual departure to Adam Zampa, Kohli played a very controlled innings on Tuesday, hitting five fours and a six. Five fours, four doubles, and 56 singles made up his total score.

Virat Kohli was the centre-stage of the chase, as he scored 84 runs in 98 balls with only 5 fours to his name. KL Rahul made 42*, Shreyas Iyer made 45, Axar Patel made 27 and Hardik Pandya smacked 28 runs as India won by 4 wickets. This meant that Australia was eliminated from the Champions Trophy 2025 and India qualified for the summit clash.

This also meant that with India playing the finals, the clash was shifted from Lahore to Dubai and will be played on March 9. The second semi-final got underway in Lahore between South Africa and New Zealand on March 5.

Virat Kohli’s 5870 runs in singles in his ODI career makes him the third-highest ODI run-getter for England

After India's win on Tuesday, Kohli has now taken 5870 runs in his 301-match-old ODI career. That makes up 41% of Kohli's overall ODI run tally.

The amount is so enormous that it is sufficient to place Kohli as the third-highest scorer for England in One-Day International cricket. Eoin Morgan (6957 runs) and Joe Root (6859 runs) are at the top of that list, followed by Ian Bell (5416 runs) and Jos Buttler (5196 runs).
