David Miller of South Africa has reignited the Suryakumar Yadav catch controversy that happened in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 against India in June 2024 in Barbados. More than seven months have passed since India's victory against South Africa in the 2024 T20 World Cup final.

Nonetheless, the players and supporters in South Africa still feel the sorrow. David Miller recently shared his unexpected moments from the championship game.

As he recalled the contentious catch of Suryakumar Yadav during the 2024 T20 World Cup, David Miller made a startling assertion. It should be mentioned that Suryakumar Yadav made a spectacular but contentious catch at the boundary to dismiss Miller in the last over.

Suryakumar Yadav's catch of David Miller won India the T20 World Cup

India won the match thanks to a historic catch made by Suryakumar Yadav. This catch was made by Suryakumar on the first ball of the final over. David Miller attempted to send a wide full ball bowled by pacer Hardik Pandya straight down the ground.

Suryakumar Yadav, on the other hand, made one of the most spectacular catches ever while running from a distance. When he realized he was heading over the ropes after catching the ball close to the boundary line, he threw it into the air.

When the ball was in the air, Suryakumar returned within the boundary and ultimately made a clean catch. When asked to check the boundary, the third umpire decided in favor of India. That catch ended all hopes of South Africa of winning the T20 World Cup.

Miller was the last known batsman to be removed, despite the Proteas needing 16 runs from the last over. He had to return to the dressing room in despair after being out for 21 off 17 balls. In the end, India won the match by 7 runs and took home the trophy.

‘Whole boundary ropes was 2-3 meters’- David Miller’s claim about SKY’s catch

David Miller was asked what he thought of India vs. South Africa in the 2024 T20 World Cup final in Barbados. Miller didn't hold back when voicing his opinions, asserting that during his catch of the ball, Suryakumar Yadav's foot touched the boundary.

"Yeah it was always going to be close and it's just so weird that whole boundary rope was there. That 2-3 meter space where SKY (Suryakumar Yadav) caught the ball, um... but look, it was a six, I mean it was out at the end of the day, and umm... it wasn't to be," Miller told ICC.

SKY's catch one of the best in the history

Suryakumar Yadav's catch was the subject of numerous comments and controversies following the game. Others just referred to the catch as propaganda to disparage the ICC and the BCCI, while several cricket professionals and users deemed it to be unclean.

Suryakumar said he hadn't touched the rope at all when questioned about the catch. He maintained, though, that he only wanted to savor the moment and couldn't please everyone.
