Digvesh Rathi In Danger Of Missing KKR Fixture!! Fined For This Reason

The ‘notebook writing’ celebration hasn’t gone well for the Lucknow Super Giants’ spinner, Digvesh Rahi, who has now earned two consecutive fines on successive games in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians.

The Delhi-born sent Naman Dhir off with the same celebration on the very first delivery of the seventh over and has been fined 50% of his match fee with an addition of two demerit points. His captain, Rishabh Pant, has also received a fine of INR 12 lakh for his team’s slow over rate in the 12-run victory against the Mumbai Indians at the Ekana Stadium.

For Digvesh Rathi, it is the second such offence and penalty under Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct. He received a fine of 25% of his match fee when he sent Priyansh Arya back in the previous game with a similar gesture and gave a bit of body contact in the eight-wicket defeat in Lucknow on April 01.

“This was his second Level 1 offense under Article 2.5 this season, and hence, Digvesh Rathi has accumulated Two Demerit Points, in addition to One Demerit Point which he accumulated during LSG’s match against Punjab Kings on April 01, 2025.” The media statement of the Indian Premier League (IPL) added.

“For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.” The statement added.

The latest level 1 code of conduct breach came with a bigger fine for Digvesh Rathi, even though he was some distance away from the batter. Two demerit points will keep him on the edge of getting one game for 36 months.

For Rishabh Pant, it’s his first offense of the season for a slow over rate, which also meant they kept one fielder in the ring during the last over of the bowling.

“As this was his team’s first offense of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offenses, Rishabh Pant was fined INR 12 Lakh.” The media statement revealed.

Digvesh Rathi came into the attack on the sixth over of the powerplay. His first ball was nailed for a boundary against Naman Dhir. On the very first delivery of the seventh over, he pushed through outside off on a good length.
