The manager of the Dubai hotel where the Indian team stayed during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, revealed that head coach Gautam Gambhir had asked them to stop doing tika and aarti after every match, as they had not won the tournament.

In addition to skill, strategy, perseverance, and hard work, the India National Cricket Team's path to ICC Champions Trophy 2025 victory required maintaining composure in the face of excitement.

Following their exciting victory over Pakistan in their group match, the Indian players were greeted with traditional aarti and tika while staying at the Taj Downtown in Dubai.

Following the Men in Blue's six-wicket victory over Pakistan in their second group match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai, Saurabh Tiwary, the area director of the hotel Taj Downtown, recently revealed the details of the festivities at the hotel.

‘Don’t do aarti, tika’- Gautam Gambhir told Dubai hotel staff

The hotel staff welcomed the India National Cricket Team with a traditional aarti, according to Saurabh Tiwary, the area director of the Taj Downtown.

However, Gautam Gambhir, the Indian head coach, was not happy with this special arrangement and asked them to stop performing the aarti and all the other rituals the day after the India-Pakistan match.

Following India's exciting victory over Pakistan, Gambhir interrupted the hotel workers as they were going about their daily business and requested them to wait because the work wasn't finished yet. They would only rejoice after winning the title, the Indian head coach made it clear.

Saurabh Tiwary told City1016: “They have been doing aarti, tika, and all after the team came back after winning the battle with Pakistan. The next day, one of the top BCCI officials tells us, Guys, please don’t do it because we have not won the trophy. We will do all the celebration after the final, and they did it.”

After the hint pressed by the hosts, he admitted that it was Gautam Gambhir.

Gautam Gambhir would be the first Indian head coach to do so if he were to accompany the India A team on their tour to England. Gambhir is concentrating on reassembling the red-ball team and evaluating new players following a challenging trip to Australia.
