Glenn Phillips, Gujarat Titans (GT), and New Zealand all-rounder has been ruled out for the rest of the IPL 2025 season due to a groin injury. The Gujarat Titans have released a formal statement regarding the all-rounder's injury, stating that he has returned to New Zealand and will miss the remainder of the season.

Glenn Phillips was a crucial contributor for New Zealand in the Champions Trophy, where they came second against India.

Phillips was a bench-warmer throughout

During the IPL 2025 mega-auction, the Gujarat Titans obtained him for Rs 2 crore, which is his base price. However, Phillips has yet to appear in any of the Titans' games this season.

Gujarat Titans currently lead the points standings with eight points from five matches. They dropped their first game to the Punjab Kings but then went on to win four straight against the Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals.

The Titans will look to continue their winning streak when they meet the Lucknow Super Giants on April 12. Sai Sudharsan has scored 273 runs at an average of 54.60 and a strike rate of 151.66, while Mohammed Siraj and Sai Kishore have taken 10 wickets each.

Glenn Phillips injured his groin while fielding as a substitute for GT

Phillips, who did not appear in GT's starting lineup once during his time with the squad, came on as a substitute fielder after the fifth over of the SRH innings but had to limp off within minutes.

He fielded Prasidh Krishna's fourth ball of the over and threw to the wicketkeeper as Ishan Kishan and Nitish Kumar Reddy sneaked a quick single. He dropped down immediately, holding his groin.

He staggered away before the next delivery, aided by some of the others from the GT camp.

"Glenn Phillips has returned to New Zealand following a groin injury he sustained during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 6. Gujarat Titans wish Glenn a speedy recovery," the GT statement read, as per Cricbuzz.

Glenn Phillips is the second overseas player that the thearat Titans have lost. EarlOn April 3, Kagiso Rabadaparted the squad respond to a personal situation in South Africa. The team has not announced a replacement for either player, and Rabada's return date is questionable.

Will GT announce a replacement?

The Titans have only five overseas players on their roster: Jos Buttler, Sherfane Rutherford, Rashid Khan, Gerald Coetzee, and Karim Janat. Buttler, Rutherford, and Rashid have appeared in every match thus far.

Coetzee is currently rehabilitating from an injury that has kept him out of the SA20 and the Champions Trophy. The roster had only seven foreign players, one less than the permissible quota of eight, and is now much smaller.
