The former Indian off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh, keeps India ahead for their clash against Pakistan in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. They will play all of their group-games in the event at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The last 50-over clash between these two sides in an ICC tournament took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad during the 2023 ODI World Cup. The Babar Azam-led side struggled with just 191 runs in their batting before the home side chased down the target with seven wickets in hand and nearly 20 overs to spare.

“The hype is being created regarding the India-Pakistan match. The team that is going to adjust better with the pitch will get a better result.” Harbhajan Singh expressed this during an interaction with ANI.
“India has an advantage; it will play all its matches in Dubai, so it will have an idea about the pitch and conditions. Overall, I feel the Indian team is better than the Pakistan team, and the result will be in favor of India.” The former Punjab spinner addressed.
Ahead of the 2025 clash between these two sides, the Mohammad Rizwan-led side will have an edge over the Rohit Sharma-led side with a margin of 3-2 in the Champions Trophy 2025.
Harbhajan Singh backs these pacers to step up on Jasprit Bumrah’s absence
It’s incredibly hard to replace Jasprit Bumrah’s skills in any format of the game. The pacer has picked up 149 scalps in 88 ODI innings at an average of 23.55 and a strike rate of 30.7 with the help of six four wickets and a couple of five-wicket hauls at the best bowling figure of 6/19 in an innings.
The Ahmedabad-born pacer featured in all five Tests of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 down under, but he picked up a back injury during the final contest at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Bumrah has joined the National Cricket Academy (NCA) as his availability for the tournament will be revealed on February 11.
Harbhajan Sigh emphasized that even though Bumrah is irreplaceable, Mohammad Shami and Arshdeep Singh should step up in his absence to shoulder responsibility.
“When a player like Bumrah is not playing, someone else has to step up and take responsibility. No one can truly replace Bumrah, but his absence creates an opportunity for others to showcase their abilities. Players like Arshdeep and Shami have a chance to make an impact and prove themselves.” The veteran added.
Harbhajan Singh backs Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma despite recent struggles.
Fans and pundits of the game have criticized Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, of late. The latter got back into touch with a fine 119-run knock in 90 balls during the second ODI in Cuttack against England. However, Kohli struggled for five runs in eight balls.

“Virat and Rohit haven't scored as many runs as expected, given their past performances. The expectations are high, and when they fall short, criticism is natural. However, with the Champions Trophy ahead, they have a great opportunity to showcase their abilities and prove how they can still win matches for India.” Harbhajan Singh elaborated.
“If they don't succeed, naturally, the young players waiting in the wings will start getting more opportunities. But I still believe both have plenty of cricket left in them--they are highly capable players who can still score runs.” Harbhajan Singh concluded in the same discussion.
