Surprisingly, Harbhajan Singh, a former Indian spinner and commentator, did not select Virat Kohli or AB de Villiers as the greatest T20 cricketer in the world.

He lavished Nicholas Pooran with plaudits for his daring knock, which helped the Lucknow Super Giants defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets in Thursday's (March 27) seventh match of the ongoing IPL 2025.

Sunrisers Hyderabad has raised the standard for scoring, particularly at their home ground, the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. However, their second game against the Lucknow Super Giants in the current IPL 2025 was a very different story.

Thanks to Shardul Thakur's four-wicket haul in Hyderabad, the hosts managed just 190/9 on the board, which is relatively low by their standards, and no SRH batsman was able to reach a fifty for the first time since the previous season.

Nicolas Pooran smashed 70 in 26 balls for LSG

With his outstanding final score of 4/34, Thakur helped LSG launch their IPL 2025 campaign with an exciting victory over SRH. But during LSG's successful run chase, Nicholas Pooran stole the show, leaving the SRH supporters at home in disbelief.

With six boundaries and up to six sixes, the West Indian hard-hitter scored 70 runs off just 26 balls in a scorching batting display.

When Pooran unleashed a barrage of forceful blows before being removed by SRH captain Pat Cummins, his knock was the epitome of entertainment.

He and Mitchell Marsh had already created the conditions for the LSG to defeat the SRH with ease (52 runs off 31 balls). Following his blistering knock in Hyderabad, Harbhajan Singh made a strong statement about Pooran after the SRH vs. LSG match, demonstrating his uncontrollable emotions.

Pooran becomes the 2nd player to score 1000 runs for LSG in the IPL

As the second player to reach 1000 runs for the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League, Nicholas Pooran has made a lasting impression on the team's history. With a magnificent knock against the SRH, the dynamic batter celebrated reaching this milestone.

In just 31 games, Pooran's power-packed performance increased his total for LSG to 1002 at an incredible average of 45.54 and a strike rate of 184.53, making him the team's second-highest run scorer. With 1410 runs from 38 games, former LSG captain KL Rahul is now the only player behind him. In the IPL, Pooran also holds the record for the fastest fifty.
