Ihsanullah, the Pakistani pace bowler, has taken a leaf out of Shahid Afridi’s playbook. The pacer announced his retirement from the Pakistan Super League a few weeks ago. But has not unretired and joined Peshawar Zalmi for the ongoing PSL 10 season.
In the 2023 PSL, Ihsanullah's lightning-fast speed made headlines as he took 22 wickets for the Multan Sultans and dazzled everyone with his deliveries of 150 kph or more. He was even quickly called up to the Pakistani team for this performance.
Unfortunately, an elbow injury sustained on Ihsanullah's April 2023 international debut put a stop to his career. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) handled his recuperation badly, causing a botched surgery and inadequate rehabilitation.

The bowler's future was unknown as a result of his 21-month absence from competition. Ali Tareen, the owner of the Multan Sultans, was also concerned that the young bowler would never be able to bowl as quickly as he used to. Ihsanullah, however, remained resolute and pledged to reach 150 km/h once more in a month.
Regretfully, he was not selected in the PSL 2025 draft by either Peshawar Zalmi, where he had even been granted trials, or his former team, the Multan Sultans.
Ihsanullah made an emotional announcement about retiring from the Pakistan Super League as a result of this loss, but he changed his mind within a day, claiming that it was a frustrated reaction to not being sold at the auction.

But in the final moments, Ihsanullah had the opportunity to demonstrate his value to both his former team and the national selectors by participating in the PSL 10. The express bowler was signed by Peshawar Zalmi in the additional category right before the start of the season.
The PSL team shared a graphic of the pacer wearing Zalmi's jersey on social media to announce the signing of Ihsanullah in the Supplementary category. They captioned the post: “Right Arm Fast Bowler Ihsanullah joins the [Yellow Storm] in the Supplementary Category for [PSL X].”

The recent loss of South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch for the season has hurt Peshawar Zalmi. Notably, Bosch was a member of Peshawar Zalmi's Diamond category team, but he left after the Mumbai Indians called him up for the IPL 2025.
