The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named the coaching staff for the upcoming A tour of England. Hrishikesh Kanitkar has been selected head coach of the team, which will be led by Abhimanyu Easwaran.
The A team will be joined by Subhodeep Ghosh of Assam (fielding coach) and Troy Cooley (bowling coach), a former India and Maharashtra batsman. Domestic performers have been named to the squad, and this is an excellent opportunity for them to cement their spot in the main team.
India A team will be playing three games on their tour to England
The A team will play three games on their tour to England. The first two games will be against the England Lions, with the third against the national Indian team, serving as a warm-up for the five-match Test series against the Ben Stokes-led side, which begins on June 20th at Headingley in Leeds.
IND A's 1st match vs England Lions is scheduled on May 30 at Canterbury. The next match is scheduled to commence on June 6 in Northampton. The game versus India's top team will take place behind closed doors at Beckenham from June 13 to 16.
BCCI has announced an 18-member squad for the tour. The team includes Yashasvi Jaiswal, Karun Nair, Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shardul Thakur, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sarfaraz Khan, and Ishan Kishan.
Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan will join the team for the second match. The A team will leave for England in two batches on May 25 and 26.
Announcement for India’s squad for the England Test series to be delayed
Cricbuzz also reported that the squad announcement of the main team for the England tour might be delayed. It has been reported that BCCI will name the team in the last week of May. The squad was supposed to be selected on May 23, but it has been postponed.
This is because the IPL was postponed and then resumed. According to rumors, the squad for the five-match Test series will depart on June 6th, around two weeks before the opening Test of the series.
Gambhir to fly with the main squad
According to sources, Gautam Gambhir, who was slated to leave early for England, will now go with the main team as planned. The Test series will also kick off the new iteration of the ICC World Test Championship.
Following the first game, the next four matches will be played in Birmingham (from July 2), Lord's (from July 10), Manchester (from July 23), and finally at the Oval (from July 31).
