India’s in-form white-ball players have earned giant strides after their strong performances during the recent home series against England. The home side won the five-match series by a margin of 4-1 to get huge rewards in the latest ICC Men’s T20I player rankings.

Their left-handed opening batter, Abhishek Sharma, produced the best innings of his international career when he smashed the quickfire 135-run knock at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. That gorgeous knock shot him 38 places up on the T20I rankings of the batters.

His knock came in just 54 deliveries and was the highest individual knock by an Indian men’s player in the shortest format. The Punjab-born rose to the second place in the latest rankings for the batters.

India’s Tilak Verma and Abhishek Sharma are at the striking distance of Travis Head

Australia’s southpaw, Travis Head, remains in front of the T20I rankings, but Abhishek is just 26 rating points behind him after his record-breaking efforts. Both of these two left-handed batters will open for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Tilak Verma started the five-match series for India in a thumping manner with an unbeaten 72-run knock that carried them over the line during the same contest at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. However, his form dipped in the last three games of the series.

India’s T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, struggled for the entire series. The right-handed veteran batter didn’t have the right rhythm as he found the pressure of the leadership. The former is placed at the third position, while Sky is at the fifth position. Both of them are at the striking distance of Head.

Hardik Pandya has rung up five places to 51st rank, while Shivam Dube has come up 38 places to 58th. The latter drilled a fine half-century against the Jos Buttler-led side during the third fixture at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. He also picked up three wickets for India during the second innings in the Mumbai clash.

Akeal Hossein reclaims the No. 1 T20I bowler ranking.

The bowling department has enjoyed the same rankings. Varun Chakravarthy has moved up three places to equal second on the back of his 14 scalps to win the ‘Player of the Series’ effort against Jos Buttler’s side. Ravi Bishnoi has come up four places to sixth among the bowlers.

West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein reclaims the No. 1 spot among the bowlers after he lost the charge to Adil Rashid a week earlier. His bowling form dropped after the first three games.

Steve Smith goes up three places among Test batters

The latest Test rankings see a furry of Australian players gain ground, and that should not be a surprise after their impressive victory by an innings and 242 runs margin against Sri Lanka at Galle. That was the first of the two-match Test series at the Galle International Stadium.

Stand-in captain Steve Smith celebrated his 10000th Test run. He has moved up three places to the fifth on the updated Test batters’ rankings after his 35th century. Opener Usman Khawaja has gained six places to rise to 11th after contributing his highest Test score of 232 runs during the competition.

It’s almost the same for the Test bowlers in the rankings. Veteran off-spinner Nathan Lyon improves two spots to jump to sixth overall. The left-arm pacer, Mitchell Starc, has jumped two places to 12th following their efforts in Galle.
