The former Indian pacer, Atul Wassan, has dropped a bombshell by shockingly revealing that he wants Pakistan to win against Rohit Sharma’s army during the upcoming encounter on February 23 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Pakistan will fight hard to keep themselves alive in the tournament after their 60-run defeat in the opening clash against New Zealand. The Blue Brigade, on the other hand, started in a powerful fashion with the six-wicket victory over Bangladesh.
Atul Wassan predicts Pakistan’s victory against India in Champions Trophy 2025
A defeat against India will almost eliminate Pakistan from the eight-team tournament. They will then require plenty of permutations and combinations to work in their favor to win the semifinal tickets. But Wassan feels that for the tournament to remain exciting, it will be valuable for the Green Brigade to come on the right side of the line.

“I want Pakistan to win because it will be fun, tournament-wise. If you don't let Pakistan win, then what will you do? If Pakistan wins, then it becomes a contest. There should be an equal fight.” The former Indian pacer revealed.
The former right-arm medium pacer lauds India’s batting depth in the playing eleven. He reckoned that the blue brigade had done the right thing in selecting five spinners, keeping in mind the slow and low surfaces of Dubai, as he addressed it as the best team.
“You have a lot of good batters: Shubman (Gill), Rohit (Sharma), Virat (Kohli). You are batting until number eight in Axar Patel. Rohit has picked five spinners, and this team is best for Dubai. Have faith in what you have and move ahead.” The Delhi-born expressed this during a recent interaction on ANI.
Ex-India pacer slams Gautam Gambhir for leaving Rishabh Pant in the playing eleven
The former pacer of the Indian side has criticized the management’s decision to bench Rishabh Pant for a long duration in the format. He feels that it would hurt the keeper’s confidence. Wassan also added that the opposition would always be scared of players like Pant in the playing line-up.
“You let Bangladesh score 228 runs after they were 35/5. Big teams will eat you up if you let them do that. Gautam Gambhir is picking his team. I am just very upset that Rishabh Pant is not playing. I don’t know why. What is going on? Pant is a mercurial player whom the other team is scared of. Because they know that he can win matches on his own.” Atul Wasan expressed this in an interview with ANI.

"KL Rahul is a great player. But I don’t know what they see in him that he is playing Test matches, ODIs, and everything. Rishabh Pant is on the bench now. This is how you ruin players. If you put a good player in a situation where he keeps thinking whether he will play or not, that player will go from hero to zero.” The former pacer claimed.
India gears for mouth-watering clash against Pakistan
The blue brigade hasn’t enjoyed the same success over Pakistan in the Champions Trophy, with two victories in five clashes. But their success in the ICC 50-over format over the Green Brigade is incredible.
Even in the last 50-over clash between the two sides during the 2023 World Cup, Rohit Sharma had a comfortable victory in Ahmedabad. Eyes will be on Babar Azam and Virat Kohli for the electrifying clash. Both the batters had a tough time in the recent 50-over games.
