India has enjoyed a successful and unbeaten run in the Champions Trophy 2025 so far, with three successive victories in the group stage of the tournament at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Blue Brigade also showed strong all-round performance during the semifinal encounter against Australia in the first semifinal in Dubai. They bowled beautifully to restrict the Aussies to a low score before chasing the total down with four wickets in hand.
Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, the Indian side enjoyed a great time at home in the three-match ODI series against England, where they earned a 3-0 whitewash. In the opening encounter against Bangladesh, the blue brigade restricted the Tigers to just 228 runs in the first innings.

Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 101-run century in 129 deliveries at a strike rate of 78.29, shouldering on nine boundaries and a couple of sixes. Rohit managed 41 runs in 36 deliveries at a strike rate of 113.89, while KL Rahul also creamed an undefeated knock of 41 runs in 47 balls as they went over the line with six wickets in hand.
Even against Pakistan, they kept themselves ahead in the contest. Despite the century stand between Saud Shakeel and Mohmmad Rizwan, the spinners kept the attacking mindset and always aimed to take wickets in the middle overs. Shakeel clubbed 62 runs in 76 deliveries, while Rizwan drilled 46 runs.
Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 100-run knock pulled them over the line with six wickets in hand, while Shreyas Iyer also smacked 56 runs in 67 deliveries, thanks to five boundaries and one six.
In the last group-stage clash, India faced New Zealand at the same venue. They were under pressure early on in the first innings, losing three wickets in the powerplay before the 98-run stand for the fourth wicket pushed them near the 250-run mark. But Varun Chakravarthy’s five-wicket haul made the score a gigantic one with a 44-run victory.

Apart from their defeat against India, New Zealand won all their group-stage encounters. They began with the tri-series final victory against the Blackcaps before blowing away the same side in the opening clash at the National Stadium in Karachi.
Their second encounter of the event was against Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium where their powerful batting chased down 240 runs with five wickets in hand and nearly 23 balls to spare.
After their defeats against the Indian side, they faced South Africa in the second semifinal at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Twin centuries from Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson fired them to 362/6 in their allotted 50 overs before they claimed the 310-run victory.
In their last final of the tournament, they faced Australia in the 2009 season and couldn’t cross the final huddle. They will aim to go a step further and name themselves with the golden letters, while the Rohit Sharma-led side will hope to do the same after they ended as the runners-up of the tournament in the 2017 season against Pakistan.
