India’s fielding coach lauds commitment and hard work
India’s fielding coach, T Dilip, in the dressing room, praised the players for their hard work in this department of the game. He reckoned that they kept pressure on the opposition for longer due to cutting the right angles in the field and showing calmness.
“Throughout the series, we created some spectacular opportunities. Well done on that. I think whether it’s about cutting angles on the outfield or taking those phenomenal catches running back, and also those crucial run-outs at the important juncture of the game, I think fantastic gesture from everyone.” T Dilip expressed in the dressing room.
“We, as a team, take a lot of pride in fielding, and to see us execute with composure and consistency throughout the series was incredibly satisfying for me as a coach and everyone here. Choosing the best fielder of the series was tough for me.” The veteran explained.
Shreyas Iyer wins Impact Fielder of the Series award vs England
India’s middle-order batter, Shreyas Iyer, had an excellent time in the three ODIs with the bat. The right-handed batter finished as the second-leading run-getter with 181 runs in three innings at an average of 60.33.
“I think in the first game, for someone being a fast bowler and showing commitment for all three games, Harshit Rana saved 10-15 runs. In the second one, taking catches running back at mid-off and also flat catches, Shubman Gill was there.” T Dilip highlighted.

But Iyer’s fielding was also crucial in the series. The Mumbai batter might have missed the opening game before getting a last-minute call from the captain for his inclusion due to Virat Kohli’s absence with injury.
“It’s also important with the number of stops at the boundary line and save those crucial runs, cutting those boundary angles and getting the run out when England was flying high. Shreyas Iyer was the man. The impact fielder of the series is Shreyas Iyer.” India’s fielding coach concluded.
The blue brigade focuses on the Champions Trophy now, as their opening encounter will be against Bangladesh on February 20 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. At the same venue, they will be up against Pakistan on February 23.
