In the end, CSK came up with a fresh opening stand between Rachin Ravindra and Shaik Rasheed. The former clubbed successive boundaries against Shardul Thakur in the very first over, but the main attraction was around the youngster.

Rasheed showed flair and pure class in his batting to smack 27 runs in 19 balls at a strike rate of 142, while the Kiwi southpaw creamed 37 runs in 22 balls at a strike rate of around 170. He is still the leading run-getter of the franchise, with over 180 runs in six innings.

Despite getting a strong start for the opening partnership in the powerplay, CSK failed to utilize the advantage. Rahul Tripathi continued his poor form in the contest and returned with just nine runs in 10 balls. Ravindra Jadeja got a promotion to number four but made just seven runs in 11 balls.

Shivam Dube stayed till the end. The southpaw was struggling so much towards the start of his innings before gathering pace in the backend of the innings. Vijay Shankar also failed to contribute.

In a game where most batters failed to connect the ball sweetly, MS Dhoni, the new CSK leader for the rest of the season, slammed an unbeaten 26 runs in 11 balls to take the side home at a strike rate of 236.36.

Bowlers- Ansul Kamboj, Khaleel Ahmed, Noor Ahmed, Matheesha Pathirana (Impact)
