The Delhi Capitals (DC) are flying high with four victories in five group-stage clashes in IPL 2025 to be at the top position in the points table.

They started the tournament with three successive victories before facing their first defeat against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Capitals lost three wickets on three consecutive balls in that game before making a brilliant comeback in the super over against the Rajasthan Royals.

DC will now travel to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad for their next encounter against the Gujarat Titans on the afternoon of April 19, 2025.

IPL 2025: DC Playing XI vs GT- Match 35

Openers- Abhishek Poel, Jake Fraser-McGurk/ Faf du Plessis

In a struggling opening stand for the Delhi side, Abhishek Porel has batted above his weight in the event so far. He nailed the Rajasthan bowlers around the park for a fine knock of 49 runs. Currently, the Southpaw has clubbed 156 runs in six innings at an average of 31.20 and a strike rate of 143.11.

Because of Jake Fraser-McGurk’s tough time in the edition, they have not gotten a flying start yet. Faf du Plessis’ injury means they still have to go with the Australian at the top. JFM made just nine runs in six balls against the Royals.

Du Plessis is on track to get fit for the event. He will be a suitable opener for the side, who can bash the spinners and pacers with the same intensity.

Middle order- Karun Nair, KL Rahul (wk), Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel (c), Ashutosh Sharma

Many expected Karun Nair to come up with another brilliant knock, but his lack of awareness saw him get run out in the game. KL Rahul kept on struggling for the entire knock of 38 runs in 32 balls, shouldering on two fours and as many sixes at a strike rate of 118.75.

Tristan Stubbs was excellent for his unbeaten knock of 34 runs in 18 balls at a strike rate of 188.89. Apart from one dropped catch, he had a fabulous game with the bat as he finished the super over chase with the first ball six, pulled over the square leg region.

Axar Patel, the leader of DC, came to the rescue with 34 runs in 14 balls, thanks to four boundaries and a couple of sixes at a strike rate of 242.86, to shoulder them to 188/5 in their 20 overs against RR.

Bowlers- Viraj Nigam, Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohit Sharma, Mukhesh Kumar (Impact)

Axar channeled the batting confidence with the ball and picked up the vital wicket of Riyan Parag. That was his very first wicket in the entire season. Mukesh Kumar and Mohit Sharma had a tough day, but Mitchell Starc turned the game towards DC in the death over.

He defended nine runs in six balls in the final over of the innings for DC before repeating his skills of a yorker in the super over. Kuldeep Yadav, who returned with figures of 1/33 in four overs, had a decent day in the office.
