Delhi Capitals (DC), with a defeat against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at home in the previous game, have dropped their chances to finish in the top two positions among the ten franchises.

The 202 runners-up of the tournament made a great start in the 2025 edition with four successive wins to begin the season, before they could earn just two victories in the five encounters. Their performance at home is also a bit below par. But finishing at the top two becomes so important for any side to go ahead in the event.

DC will meet the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 29, 2025, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

IPL 2025: DC Playing XI vs KKR- Match 48

Openers- Abhishek Porel, Faf du Plessis

Abhishek Porel has contributed well for the DC side inside the powerplay this year. Against Bengaluru, the southpaw creamed 28 runs in 11 balls, shouldering on two boundaries and two sixes at a strike rate of 254.55.

But he got out at the wrong time for the Capitals. It was important for Porel to stay at the crease a little bit longer after seeing the struggle of Faf du Plessis, who returned to the side after three weeks due to injury.

The veteran right-handed batter made 22 runs in 26 balls at a strike rate of 84.62, thanks to two boundaries. He hopes to get his lost rhythm back in the next game against the Knight Riders.

Middle order- Karun Nair, KL Rahul (wk), Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel (c), Vipraj Nigam, Ashutosh Sharma (Impact)

Karun Nair made four runs before getting dismissed against Yash Dayal. Since his heroics against the Mumbai Indians in the very first game of his return this year, the right-handed batter hasn’t been able to score runs yet. So many teams have found a way to dismiss the batters in this league.

KL Rahul’s knock will be discussed a lot. But on a slow surface where it was not easy to get runs that comfortably, it was important to keep wickets in hand. He made 41 runs in 39 balls with three boundaries, and he could perhaps have started to fire a bit earlier to bring the middle order in early.

Axar Patel, the DC captain, along with his leadership and bowling, will need to come to the party more with the bat. It was Tristan Stubbs who bashed a fine knock of 34 runs in 18 balls, thanks to five fours and one six at a strike rate of 188.89 with a few innovative shots over the rope.

Vipraj Nigam scored 12 runs, and Delhi finished with 162/8 in their allotted 20 overs. The management's bizarre decision to keep Ashutosh Sharma as an impact player was a result of this.

Bowlers: Mitchell Starc, Dushmantha Chameera, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar

Mitchell Starc bowled well for 0/31 in three overs, but his not getting the chance to bowl the penultimate over will be a talking point in the future. Axar again started to bowl in the powerplay and ended with 2/19 in four overs. Kuldeep was decent for 0/28, but a lack of wickets didn’t help them in the middle overs.

Mukesh Kumar, who won the Player of the Match award in the last game, scored 51 runs in 3.3 overs. DC could try to retain the same playing eleven for the upcoming fixture.
