The Delhi Capitals (DC) have been unbeaten so far in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with three consecutive victories. Their captain, Axar Patel, has handled the franchise beautifully even in the absence of some of the top players.

Delhi started the tournament with a nervy victory against the Punjab Kings in Vizag, thanks to Ashutosh Sharma’s unbeaten match-winning half-century. In the following game, they blew away the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) with a superb all-round performance.

And they continued the glorious show against the Chennai Super Kings for their first victory over the side at the MA Chidambaram Stadium since 2010. DC will now face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 10, 2025.

IPL 2025- DC Playing XI vs RCB- Match 24

Openers- Faf du Plessis/ KL Rahul, Jake Fraser-McGurk

Faf du Plessis missed the last game due to injury. But he should make a straight entry into the side if he gains full fitness. The pressure has started to grow on the Australian opening batter, Jake Fraser-McGurk, who couldn’t do much in the opening position in the previous game for his four-ball duck.

In Faf’s absence, KL Rahul opened the innings and fired up with a 77-run knock in 51 balls, shouldering on six boundaries and three sixes with a strike rate of 150.98. He won the Player of the Match award for the knock.

The best thing about the contribution was how he dealt with the spinners, especially the off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and the left-arm wrist spinner Noor Ahmed. That puts the home side under pressure in the middle overs.

Middle Order- Abhishek Porel, KL Rahul (wk), Axar Patel, Tristan Stubbs, Ashutosh Sharma

Abhishek Porel nailed 33 runs in 20 balls at number three for the DC side as he thumped four boundaries and one six to earn the vital momentum at a strike rate of 165. Axar Patel, the captain of the side, displayed his aggressive batting from the very first ball of the innings and ended with 21 runs in 14 balls at a strike rate of 150.

Tristan Stubbs was also clinical against the spinners in the afternoon on a slow and low Chennai surface. The right-handed batter cracked 24 runs in 12 balls at a strike rate of 200. Sameer Rizvi struggled for his 20 runs in 15 balls, which means the DC management could bring back KL Rahul at number four.

Either they can bring Rahul down or replace JFM with Faf du Plessis in the side.

Bowlers: Viraj Nigam, Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohit Sharma, Mukesh Kumar

Viraj Nigam went for a few runs in the first couple of overs but made a strong return in the contest with figures of 2/27 runs in four overs at an economy rate of 6.75. Kuldeep Yadav managed sensational figures of 1/30 in four overs.

Mitchell Starc provided them early wickets with the new ball and finished with figures of 1/27 in four overs at an economy rate of 6.75. Axar bowled just one over in the last game due to the huge number of left-handed batters for Chennai.

Mohit was excellent for DC in the death overs by changing his pace and length of the fixture.
