The Delhi Capitals (DC) have nearly taken a step towards the top four qualification in the IPL 2025 with six victories in eight group-stage encounters at a net run rate of +0.657. They are coming fresh after a long break, enjoying the previous victory against the Lucknow Super Giants.

Delhi made a fantastic start in this edition with four successive wins at the start of the campaign before slipping a little in the next four fixtures. After their defeat against Mumbai at home, they somehow stole the victory against the Rajasthan Royals.

DC will lock horns with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the second round in the IPL 2025 on April 27, 2025, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

IPL 2025: DC Playing XI vs RCB- Match 46

Openers- Abhishek Porel and Karun Nair

Karun Nair and Abhishek Porel have structured a new opening partnership for DC this season after the management decided to drop Jake Fraser-McGurk on the back of his poor string of scores this year.

Faf du Plessis’ injury has been going on for a long time, and the veteran is yet to recover from that. Nair, since his return to the season in the first game against Mumbai, hasn’t done anything significant with a few low scores.

But Abhishek Porel stood up in the crisis period. The southpaw nailed 51 runs in 36 balls in the last game at a strike rate of over 140, shouldering on five boundaries and one six. That’s where Delhi got someone who could give them an aggressive start and stabilize the inning later on.

Middle order- KL Rahul (wk), Axar Patel (c), Tristan Stubbs, Ashutosh Sharma, Vipraj Nigam

KL Rahul, because of the entire shift, can walk into the middle at number three in the batting department. The right-handed batter, for another chase, carried DC over the winning line with an unbeaten knock of 57 runs in 42 balls at a strike rate of 135.71, thanks to three boundaries and three sixes.

Axar Patel, the captain, also blasted a fine knock of 34 runs in 20 balls at a strike rate of 170, thanks to one boundary and four sixes. The all-rounder decided to bowl all of his four overs at the start of the inning and ended with figures of 0/29.

He may not repeat the same against a side that has Virat Kohli in the opening position. Tristan Stubbs, a live-wire in the field, has also done a great job with the bat in crunch situations for the 2020 runners-up. Vipraj Nigam bowled just one over in the last game and leaked 14 runs.

Ashutosh Sharma’s role will also be vital in the side in the lower order. The management has used him as a floater in different situations to get the best out of him.

Bowlers- Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, Dushmantha Chameera, Mukesh Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav (Impact)

Mitchell Starc ended with an extraordinary figure of 1/25 in four overs in the last game at an economy rate of 6.25. His role with the old ball in the death overs helped the DC side to restrict LSG to a score below par despite the opponents being ahead.

But it was Mukhesh Kumar’s two-wicket over that changed the entire game with figures of 4/33 in four overs at an economy rate of 8.20. Dushmantha Chameera also used the pace and short ball well.
