But the Shubman Gill-led side made a clinical comeback in the season with four consecutive victories against the Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals before ending the winning streak against the Delhi Capitals.
GT will now make a trip to the Eden Gardens to meet the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 21, 2025.
IPL 2025: GT Playing XI vs KKR- Match 39
Openers- Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan
In the previous encounter against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), GT received a healthy opening partnership between the captain, Shubman Gill, and Sai Sudarshan for 120 runs in 12 overs. The former nailed 60 runs in 38 balls at a strike rate of 157.89, shouldering on six boundaries and one six.

On the other hand, the southpaw collected 56 runs in 37 balls at a strike rate of 151.35, shouldering on seven boundaries and one six. He is the second-leading run-getter of the season so far, with 329 runs in six innings at an average of 54.83 and a strike rate of 151.61, thanks to four fifties.
Gill has also clubbed 208 runs in six innings at an average of 41.60 and a strike rate of around 150, with two fifties to his name at the best score of unbeaten 61 runs.
Middle order- Jos Buttler (wk), Sherfane Rutherford, Shahrukh Khan Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Arshad Khan
Jos Buttler has contributed so much at number three. He got a new job on the side during the middle overs. The former England captain is the second leading run-getter for GT with 218 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 157.97, with the best score of an unbeaten 73 runs with two fifties.
Sherfane Rutherford has provided them with the firepower in the middle order, and Rahul Tewatia’s role is a bit confusing in the team. He hasn’t bowled much in the edition, or has batted so much lower in the batting department. In this case, it would have been better for GT to give a chance to a proper batter, but they have respect for the veteran.
Rashid Khan needs to nail a few big shots more regularly. The management expects him to score the runs. Shah Rukh Khan’s role becomes so vital for the right balance of the side.
Bowlers- R Sai Kishore, Prasidh Krishna, Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Siraj (Impact)
In the absence of Kagiso Rabada, who is expected to arrive in the next 10 days for the GT side, Mohammed Siraj has picked up wickets in the powerplay. The Indian pacer is the franchise’s second-leading wicket-taker of the season, with 10 wickets in six innings.
Prasidh Krishna has provided them the pace and bounce in the middle overs with 10 scalps in six innings at an economy rate of below seven. R Sai Kishore has also done a great job with the ball in the tough times of Rashid.
