IPL 2025: GT vs MI Head-to-Head Records- Match 9
Published - 29 Mar 2025, 07:38 PM | Updated - 29 Mar 2025, 07:45 PM

The previous GT vs MI encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad between the Gujarat Titans and the Mumbai Indians saw the former side defending 168 runs, thanks to some poor performance from the five-time champions’ lower-order batting department. They hope to repeat the same show in the IPL 2025.
After a poor powerplay with the ball for Mumbai Indians against the Chennai Super Kings in their opening clash, the responsibility was on the spinners to handle the middle overs and put pressure on the opponent side. Ruturaj Gaikwad continued his flowless batting even after the powerplay to celebrate his fine half-century.
But Vignesh Puttur picked up the wicket of the Maharashtra batter on the fifth ball of his very first over. Shivam Dube smashed a few big shots but couldn’t handle the pressure and mistimed a six into the hands of Tilak Verma. A silent over from Mitchell Santner was Puttur picking his third wicket of the evening in the form of Deepak Hooda.

Mumbai leaked just 57 runs in nine overs in the middle phase with four wickets, and they hope to continue the same bold performance in the GT vs MI encounter.
Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, had a mixed bag feeling in the middle overs of the innings during the clash against the Punjab Kings. The very first ball of Rashid Khan in the seventh over went for a boundary, and that was a sign of the Kings being fearless despite losing wickets regularly.
Azmatullah Omarzai’s scratchy knock killed the momentum for the Titans as Sai Kishore went through a very good few overs with the ball. He sent back the Afghanistan all-rounder for 16 runs before collecting the wicket of Glenn Maxwell on the very next delivery. But Shreyas Iyer smashed the Tamil Nadu spinner, who ended with 3/30 in his four overs.
Punjab made 156/4 in 15 overs. That means Gujarat gave away 83 runs for the loss of three wickets in the nine-over period. One of the biggest reasons for that was Rashid Khan going for 1/29 in his first three overs. They hope to achieve better performance in this department during the GT vs MI fixture.
