The Gujarat Titans (GT) will face the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the fifth encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The clash will take place on March 25, 2025, at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Gujarat Titans went through two very strong seasons in 2022 and 2023. Under Hardik Pandya, they became the champions in their maiden season, beating the Rajasthan Royals in the final, while they finished as the runners-up in the following year, losing the last-ball thrilling final against the Chennai Super Kings.
But the IPL 2024 was not a smooth journey for the Titans, who were exposed with the departure of Hardik, one of the premier Indian all-rounders, while Mohammed Shami was injured and out of the event. Under the new leader, Shubman Gill, the Gujarat Titans ended at the eighth position in the IPL 2024 points table with five wins in 14 games, including two washouts at a net run rate of -1.063.

It’s been the same frustrating story for the Punjab Kings since 2014 when they failed to qualify for the top four of the tournament. They did well in patches but were never consistent with their all-around performances throughout the competition.
Punjab finished at the penultimate position among the ten franchises with just five wins in 14 games at a net run rate of -0.353. In the first half of the tournament, they could earn just two victories, including a rough sting of four successive defeats and that was on the back of their struggle to select the playing eleven after Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out of the event with injury.
In the new season, Punjab has made some fine changes in the squad, including the new coach Ricky Ponting and captain Shreyas Iyer. They have also bought Yuzvendra Chahal and Glenn Maxwell back in the side. Arshdeep Singh will share the new ball with some talented young Australian pacers during the GT vs PBKS fixture.

Gujarat, after their previous years’ struggle with the solid and aggressive opening stands, signed Jos Buttler in the side. They also went after Kagiso Rabada and Mohammad Siraj and got both the fast bowlers in the squad. In the middle overs, they will have their trump card of Rashid Khan in the GT vs PBKS clash.
For the Kings, they will have a few healthy headaches for the GT vs PBKS clash in appointing the four overseas players. Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell are sure shots in the side, but they could also go with wicket-keeper, Josh Inglis, as the opener for the GT vs PBKS fixture in Ahmedabad.
