For the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, powerplay bowling has always been a challenge for them. Last year, they were seventh in the list of economies (9.77), leaking 879 runs in 15 innings at an average of 36.62 and a strike rate of 22.50.

Bengaluru was smashed for 39 sixes in the powerplay of the last season, the joint-most in the IPL 2024 alongside the Delhi Capitals. But for this season, they will have Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s experience with them, and the Indian right-arm pacer will want to make an impact straightaway in the opening KKR vs RCB clash.

Yash Dayal will bowl at the death for the three-time runners-up, who can also use Krunal Pandya’s left-arm spin bowling in the powerplay overs. Josh Hazlewood’s fitness is a concern for the side, but if he remains fit, then they can use the Australian pacer in the opening and middle overs.
