The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) made a superb comeback against the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025, thanks to Avesh Khan’s magnificent execution of the yorkers. Rajasthan, for the second consecutive game, failed to chase down the score from a position where they were comfortable in the game.
Lucknow, under Rishabh Pant’s captaincy, has gone through a slightly mixed-up event with five wins in eight encounters at a net run-rate of +0.088.
LSG will be up against the second-ranked Delhi Capitals in the 2025 season for the next fixture on April 22, 2025, at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
IPL 2025: LSG Playing XI vs DC- Match 40
Openers- Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh
Aiden Markram, in the previous game, contributed immensely to the LSG side, who lost three wickets inside the first eight overs of the innings, including the two inform batters and the captain, Rishabh Pant.

Markram never looked rushed on his shots as he took his time to nail them down the ground or over the infield to collect the benefits. In 45 balls, the right-handed batter smacked 66 runs at a strike rate of 146.67, shouldering on five boundaries and three sixes.
Overall, Aiden has scored 274 runs in eight innings of the IPL 2025 at a strike rate of nearly 150, thanks to three fifties at the best score of 66 runs. Mitchell Marsh, after a brilliant start to the event, has found it a bit harder to score runs in the last couple of contests.
Middle order- Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant (c & wk.), Abdul Samad, Ayush Badoni, David Miller
For the second consecutive game, the opponent side exposed Nicholas Pooran, with a slower swinging delivery on the pads for the leg before the stumps’ dismissal. He is still the leading run-getter of the season, currently with 368 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 205.58.
Pant, meanwhile, continued his off-form for a rare good knock in the previous game against Chennai. Ayush Badoni put up a vital partnership of 76 runs in the crucial moment to steady the ship. The LSG batter celebrated his 50 in 33 balls.
But the biggest game-changer of the entire innings was Abdul Samad, who timed Sandeep Sharma for four sixes in the final over to post 30 runs in 10 balls and carry the side to 180, which proved to be the winning score at the end.
The surface got a bit slow as the evening progressed, and batting wasn’t an easy job. But Samad’s knock stole the momentum from the home side and put it in the LSG camp.
Bowlers- Ravi Bishnoi, Shardul Thakur, Prince Yadav/Mayank Yadav, Dinesh Rathi, Avesh Khan (Impact)
Pant received so much criticism in the game against CSK for not offering Ravi Bishnoi his last over of the contest. In the RR game, he bowled three overs for 19 runs without any success.

Avesh Khan was the game-changer with the ball for LSG, ending with figures of 3/37 in four overs, while Pant’s captaincy towards the end of the innings was very good.
