The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) put up two successive clinical performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with a couple of consecutive victories. Despite carrying a weak bowling line-up. Rishabh Pant has used his resources well.
The Super Kings started the event with a close defeat against the Delhi Capitals before making a strong comeback against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. They faced their very first defeat against the Punjab Kings by eight wickets, followed by two successive wins.
LSG, standing in the fifth position in the points table with three wins in five encounters, will meet the Gujarat Titans on April 09, 2025, at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.
IPL 2025: LSG Playing XI vs GT- Match 26
Openers- Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram
For two consecutive games, LSG has earned the benefit of two string-opening partnerships from Mitchell Mash and Aiden Markram. The latter clubbed 47 runs in 28 balls at a strike rate of 167.86, shouldering on four boundaries and a couple of sixes.

In the 99-run opening partnership, Marsh struggled at the start but picked up the pace towards the end and nailed 81 runs in 48 balls at a strike rate of 170, thanks to six boundaries and five over boundaries.
For both games, the opening stands have helped the LSG side to lay down a platform for a strong opening partnership.
Middle order- Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant (c & wk.), Ayush Badoni, David Miller, Abdul Samad
Nicholas Pooran, after Marsh’s dismissal, smacked the Kolkata bowlers around the park and stayed unbeaten for 87 runs in 36 balls, shouldering on seven boundaries and eight over boundaries at a strike rate of 241.67. The LSG batter was one of the reasons for the franchise getting to 29 in the end.
Rishabh Pant, the captain and wicket-keeper batter of the side, didn’t turn up with the blade in the last game. He kept on pushing him in the batting line-up. This might have happened due to the southpaw not being in great touch in the season so far.
Abdul Samad, in four deliveries, managed just six runs with one boundary, whereas David Miller got four singles in as many deliveries. LSG hopes for a better contribution from the middle order, going deep into the tournament.
Bowlers- Shardul Thakur, Akash Deep, Avesh Khan, Dinesh Rathi, Ravi Bishnoi (Impact)
The bowling performance from the Lucknow side was under a lot of scrutiny against the Knight Riders. Despite getting a good total on the board, they didn’t get the right line and length from the start. Shardul Thakur leaked 52 runs in four overs, taking two wickets in the fixture.
Even in an over, he bowled five wides consecutively. Akash Deep was also wayward in his bowling performance for figures of 2/52 in four overs. Dinesh Rathi continued to grow his stature with figures of 1/33 in four overs.
He was over the moon after the wicket of Sunil Narine and didn’t hesitate to celebrate in the same fashion. Ravi Bishnoi held his nerve in the very last over to claim the victory for the side.
