The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have also gone through the same fate with two victories in four group-stage encounters in IPL 2025. They are coming into the fixture at the Eden Gardens with a powerful victory against the Mumbai Indians.

Lucknow was excellent with their batting show in the opening game against the Delhi Capitals before their bowling pulled them down. They blew away the Sunrisers Hyderabad with a thumping win in the second game before recording another defeat against the Punjab Kings.

But the last victory against the Mumbai Indians will increase their confidence against the Knight Riders.

IPL 2025- LSG Playing XI vs KKR- Match 21

Openers- Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram

Mitchell Marsh has been in phenomenal touch so far in the IPL with three half-centuries in four innings, apart from the only failure against the Punjab Kings.

He was back in great touch against the Mumbai Indians during the last encounter as the Australian all-rounder nailed 60 runs in 31 balls at a strike rate of 193, shouldering on nine boundaries and two sixes.

The concern for the LSG management was around Aiden Markram, who was not contributing like Marsh in the batting department to provide them with a solid opening stand.

But he stood up in the last game against Mumbai and creamed 52 runs in 38 balls, shouldering on two fours and four sixes at a strike rate of nearly 140.

Middle order- Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant (c & wk.), Ayush Badoni, David Miller, Abdul Samad

Nicholas Pooran is the leading run-getter of the season so far, and he has always provided the Lucknow Super Giants a benefit with the bat in the middle overs against the opponent spinners. But the challenge will be different for the left-handed batter, who will be facing two quality spinners- Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine in the clash against KKR.

It’s a little headache for the LSG side that their captain, Rishabh Pant, is yet to come to the party. He managed just two runs in the last game in six balls. Ayush Badoni and David Miller’s fiery knocks pushed them over the 200-run mark. The former smashed 30 runs in 19 balls, while the Proteas batter clubbed 27 runs in 14 balls.

Abdul Samad’s performance is also crucial for the side in the lower-order batting line-up.

Bowlers- Shardul Thakur, Dinesh Rathi, Aakash Deep, Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi (Impact)

Shardul Thakur has taken the new ball for the side but hasn’t been same effective since the Hyderabad clash. However, his one over at the death against Mumbai turned the tables.

Dinesh Rathi was the biggest contributor for the LSG side in the last game, with figures of 1/21 in four overs at an economy rate of 5.20. Apart from him, all the other pacers and Ravi Bishnoi went for runs.

The LSG side is trying hard to get their expressive pacer, Mayank Yadav, back in the park, but as their head coach revealed, the Delhi-born is currently recovering at the National Cricket Academy and is likely to join the squad next week.

Avesh Khan’s form, however, is a concern for the franchise, as they aim for their third win of the event.
