The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) is caged in the middle traffic of the IPL 2025 points table, sitting at the fifth position, thanks to four victories in seven group-stage encounters at a net run rate of +0.086.
After a poor start in the campaign with two defeats in the first three clashes, the Super Giants went through a strong and clinical performance by earning three successive victories in as many games. But they faced a blow to end the winning run against the Chennai Super Kings by five wickets at home.
LSG will now travel to the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 19, 2025, for their upcoming fixture against the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
IPL 2025: LSG Playing XI vs RR- Match 36
Openers- Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh
Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh have provided a few strong opening partnerships to the LSG side in the IPL 2025. But they failed on a rare occasion in the previous clash. The South African batter was late for his pick-up shot as Rahul Tripathi grabbed a fine catch running back.

Mitchell Marsh survived the opening spell but didn’t look like his normal batting. On a slightly tricky surface, he couldn’t find the middle of the blade. Finally, he missed a straight delivery from Ravindra Jadeja to get back to the pavilion for 30 runs in 25 balls at a strike rate of 120, thanks to two boundaries and two sixes.
He will be eager to get going against the Royals and go further up from his 295-run season in six innings at an average of 49.16 and a strike rate of 171.51, shouldering on four half-centuries at the best score of 81.
Middle order- Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant (c & wk.), Ayush Badoni, Abdul Samad, David Miller
Nicholas Pooran is currently the leading run-getter of the IPL 2025. The LSG batter has drilled 357 runs in seven innings at an average of 59.50 and a strike rate of over 200, scoring four fifties at the best score of unbeaten 87 runs.
Rishabh Pant, the captain and wicket-keeper batter of the side, was under pressure with a lack of runs this season. But he found a perfect touch against Chennai. The LSG Southpaw clubbed 63 runs in 49 balls, thanks to four boundaries and as many sixes to keep them in the chase of a decent score on the board.
Ayush Badoni, despite getting so many lives, couldn’t convert them to a big score, while Abdul Samad nailed 20 runs in 11 balls at a strike rate of 181.82. Davis Miller didn’t get a single ball to face in the entire innings, and the LSG management needs to work on how they can promote the batter.
Bowlers- Shardul Thakur, Avesh Khan/Mayank Yadav, Akash Deep, Dinesh Rathi, Ravi Bishnoi (Impact)
Shardul Thakur is LSG’s leading wicket-taker this season, with 11 scalps in seven innings. But his economy rate of nearly 11 in 25 overs hasn’t made a significant impact in the game. In the previous contest, he finished with figures of 0/56 in four overs.
Dinesh Rathi continues his growth in the league with another powerful performance of 1/23 in four overs. Pant was smart enough to bowl Markram four overs for 2/25.

It’s still awkward how Pant didn’t go to Ravi Bishnoi despite the bowling ending with 2/18 in three overs. The pressure will be immense on Avesh Khan as Mayank Yadav has joined the campaign and could replace him.
