The Mumbai Indians (MI), confident of their two successive victories, with the recent one being against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), will face the Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium.

Mumbai made a poor start in the IPL 2025 four defeats in the first five games. But they backed their performance so well with two consecutive wins, one of them coming against the table toppers, Delhi Capitals, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The five-time champions will aim to continue their superb bowling performance against a weak-looking Chennai side in the next encounter.

IPL 2025: MI Playing XI vs CSK- Match 38

Openers- Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton (wk)

Mumbai got a decent start in their 163-run chase against Hyderabad, with Rohit Sharma showing his old class. He pulled Mohammed Shami over the square region for a huge six before driving two sweet boundaries off the blade.

In 16 balls, he smashed 26 runs at a strike rate of 162.50, thanks to three over boundaries. But just when it felt like the veteran would get the old touch back and smash the big shots, he got cramped for a low full toss and found the cover fielder.

Ryan Rickelton kept nailing from the other end. But once the SRH introduced spin into the attack, he slowed down a bit and failed for 31 runs in 23 balls despite getting a chance on the no-ball.

Middle order- Will Jacks, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Verma, Hardik Pandya (c), Naman Dhir

Will Jacks had a tough start in the game with a catch dropped on the very first ball of the game at the first slip position. But he used his variations well to pick up two wickets in three overs, leaking 14 runs. One of them includes the left-handed opening batter, Travis Head, who smashed 28 runs in 29 balls at a strike rate of 96.55.

Later, with the bat, Jack's clubbed 36 runs in 26 balls at a strike rate of around 140. Suryakumar Yadav smacked 26 runs in 15 balls, while Hardik Pandya, the leader of the side, showed his power from the very first ball and drilled 21 runs in just nine balls at a strike rate of 233.33, thanks to three boundaries and one six.

Tilak Verma remained unbeaten on 21 runs in 17 balls at a strike rate of 123.53 as Mumbai chased down the score with 11 balls to spare.

Bowlers- Mitchell Santner, Deepak Chahar, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, Karn Sharma (Impact)

Deepak Chahar ended with 0/47 in four overs, but that won’t tell how brilliantly he bowled in the first. He kept on asking questions to the batters, but either the fielders dropped the catch or the balls started to fall short of the crease.

As always, Jasprit Bumrah was unplayable for his figures of 1/21 in four overs despite bowling in the tough phases of the game. Hardik had a decent start in the bowling, but his decision to bowl the last over of the game proved wrong.

The New Zealand left-arm pacer, Trent Boult, ended with figures of 1/29 in four overs. They hope to repeat the same dominance with the ball against CSK in the future clash.
