The five-time champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Mumbai Indians, had a very poor performance as they finished at the bottom of the points table under Hardik Pandya’s leadership. They will face the Gujarat Titans in the second fixture on March 29, 2025, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Hardik, after missing the previous encounter due to the slow over rate, will return to the playing eleven to make it a balanced side. They won’t have the services of the Indian pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, who is recovering at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

Openers- Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton (wk.)

Rohit Sharma didn’t enjoy his fourth-ball stay during the previous fixture against the Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in the IPL 2025. The former captain struggled in the first three balls against Khaleel Ahmed before flicking the ball straight into the hands of Shivam Dube.

Ryan Rickelton came into the game after a fine 2025 season of the SA20 and started with a few great shots in the innings. But, the issue for the left-handed batter was that he failed to extend the good knock and went back to the dressing room for 13 runs in seven deliveries at a strike rate of 185.71.

Both of them will be eager to start fresh with a few big individual scores during the upcoming fixture against the Gujarat Titans.

Middle order- Will Jacks, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilka Verma, Robin Minz/Hardik Pandya (c), Naman Dhir

Will Jacks looked good for his seven-ball stay as the right-handed batter smashed 11 runs. Suryakumar Yadav, who hasn’t been in great touch in the shortest format, struggled in the previous game against Chennai Super Kings’ spin attack. The standing captain for the Mumbai Indians contributed with just 29 runs in 26 balls at a strike rate of 111.54.

Tilak Verma started with a lot of aggression in the innings. The Southpaw nailed 31 runs in 25 balls at a strike rate of 124, thanks to two boundaries and two sixes. The only possible change on the side for the fixture against the Titans would be the return of Hardik Pandya in place of Robin.

Hardik can bowl a few overs in the powerplay and contribute the last two, or even if they need him at the death stage. The right-handed batter will also be crucial for the lower-order contributions. Naman Dhir, who made 17 runs in 12 balls, will continue at the seventh position for the side.

Bowlers: Deepak Chahar, Trent Boult, Mitchell Santner, Satyanarayan Raju, Vignesh Puttur (Impact)

Deepak Chahar, who smashed 28 unbeaten runs in 15 balls against his old franchise, will be vital at number nine for the franchise. He also drew the first blood with the wicket of Rahul Tripathi in the second innings.

Santner can vary the pace for the few overs of spin, who will be more excited for the left-arm wrist spinner, Vignesh Puttur. The youngster, who is yet to play for the Kerala senior side, will be gaining confidence after his brilliant spell of 3/32 in four overs.
