A few weeks ago, the Mumbai Indians struggled to qualify for the playoffs of IPL 2025. Now, with some dominating performances, they have moved up to third place in the points table, with six victories in ten group-stage encounters and a net run rate of +0.889.
Mumbai’s journey can be divided into two journeys. They won just one game in the first five fixtures before earning five successive victories to get up in the points table. Rohit Sharma, the former captain of the side, has also made a return to the runs, while Suryakumar Yadav has continued his dominance.
The five-time champions will face the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 01, 2025, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Rohit Sharma didn’t have a great start to this season, with several low scores. The right-handed batter struggled to strike the right balance between defense and aggression in the batting department, while Mumbai struggled with the opening stand.

But he seems to get back his lost rhythm with half-centuries to his name. The veteran has cracked 240 runs in nine innings this year at an average of 30 and a strike rate of 156.86, thanks to two half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 76 runs.
Ryan Rickelton, the wicket-keeper batter, nailed a fine knock of 58 runs in 32 balls at a strike rate of 181.25, thanks to six boundaries and four sixes.

Will Jacks didn’t have a great time for his 29 runs in 21 balls at a strike rate of 138.10, thanks to three boundaries and one six. Rickelton’s presence on the side kept them ahead inside the powerplay overs. Suryakumar Yadav drilled 54 runs in 28 balls at a strike rate of 192.86, thanks to four boundaries and four sixes.
The right-handed batter is currently the second leading run-getter with 427 runs in 10 innings at an average of 61 and a strike rate of 169.44, having on three fifties at the best score of unbeaten 68 runs.
Tilak Verma and MI captain Hardik Pandya struggled in the middle overs, but they picked up the pace in the backend overs. Naman Dhir clubbed an unbeaten knock of 25 runs in 11 balls at a strike rate of 227.27, while Corbin Bosch smacked 20 runs in 10 balls at a strike rate of 200.
That helped the side to end on 215/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Once they went beyond the mark, it was nearly impossible for the side to chase the score.

Corbin Bosch bowled well for his figures of 1/26 in four overs at an economy rate of 6.50. Jasprit Bumrah used the variations pretty well for figures of 4/22 in four overs at an economy rate of 5.5.

Meanwhile, Trent Boult used the new ball well inside the powerplay for figures of 3/20 in four overs. On the other hand, Deepak Chahar was smashed for 38 runs in three overs at an economy rate of 12.70.
