The Mumbai Indians (MI) have gone through a very irregular season in IPL 2025. They started the campaign with a couple of defeats before opening their account with a victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

However, they again slipped on consecutive occasions before getting back on the winning track against the unbeaten Delhi Capitals side away from home, thanks to their superb all-round performance, including brilliance in the fielding department.

Mumbai now returns to the Wankhede Stadium to face the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 17, 2025, as both sides look to extend their winning momentum.

IPL 2025: MI Playing XI vs SRH- Match 33

Openers- Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton

Openers always set the platform for any franchise at the top in the batting department. But it’s a struggling part for the franchise. Their former five-time title-winning captain, Rohit Sharma, is going through a rough patch with a string of low scores.

The right-handed batter has smashed 56 runs in five innings at an average of 11.20 and a strike rate of 136.58. He has got the starts in most of the games but hasn’t converted them into big scores yet. The Nagpur-born doesn’t seem to be the same person who guided the Indian side home against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy 2025 final.

On the flip side of the coin, Ryan Rickelton has done a decent job with the bat. The southpaw has smacked 149 runs in six innings at an average of just below 30 and a strike rate of 153.60, thanks to the best score of an unbeaten 62 runs.

Middle order- Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Verma, Hardik Pandya (c), Naman Dhir, Will Jacks, Mitchell Santner

Suryakumar Yadav is the sixth leading run-getter of the side this season with 239 runs in six innings at an average of 47.80 and a strike rate of nearly 150, thanks to three half-centuries. Mumbai hopes to get the Indian T20I captain in the firing mode against Hyderabad.

In the case of Tilak Verma, the southpaw has gathered aggression and stability with the bat since being retired by the management against the Lucknow Super Giants. He has blasted 210 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 143.

Naman Dhir and Hardik Pandya have also chipped in with the runs at the lower order. The former was excellent in the previous game against Delhi to offer them the required firepower towards the end of the innings.

However, the issue for the management is around Will Jacks. The England batter hasn’t contributed much in the tournament, and the management is also struggling to get his position right in the batting department.

Bowlers- Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Karn Sharma (Impact Player)

The Mumbai Indians brought both Deepak Chahar and Trent Boult in the mega auction with a plan of getting early wickets of the opponent side with the new ball inside the powerplay. But that theory hasn’t worked yet.

Jasprit Bumrah’s return to the side was a huge bonus for the team. He has bowled the crucial overs on most occasions in the last two games. Karn Sharma, with three wickets in his very first game of the 2025 season, made an impact with the ball in the middle overs.
