The Mumbai Indians (MI) are going through a strong phase of the IPL 2025 with three successive victories after their poor start in the tournament, with just one win in the first five games. This has promoted the side to the sixth position of the points table, besides sending a strong message to the opponents.
The Hardik Pandya-led side blew away the Chennai Super Kings by nine wickets in the previous home clash. Rohit Sharma, who remained unbeaten on 76 runs in 45 balls, has made a dominating return to the event, which will be a huge positive for the five-time champions.
Mumbai will play Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second round of the IPL 2025 on April 23, 2025, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.

Openers- Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton (wk)
The opening partnership for the Mumbai Indians was an issue coming into the game against the Super Kings. But they celebrated 63 runs for the first wicket in 6.4 overs. Ryan Rickelton made 24 runs in 19 balls, but the biggest relief for the management was on Rohit.

The Indian captain looked to pull the short ball from Khaleel Ahmed on the backfoot into the stands before going berserk against the overpitched deliveries. He hardly looked to keep the ball on the ground and went for aerial shots, mostly.
Rohit’s knock and his stay till the end to carry them over the winning margin is going to be a huge plus point for the next clash against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Middle order- Suryakumar Yadav, Will Jacks, Tilak Verma, Hardik Pandya (c), Naman Dhir, Mitchell Santner
Suryakumar Yadav has picked up the pace for the side in this year’s IPL, and that’s not a good sign for the other nine franchises. Against Chennai, he looked to be back in the old rhythm with a fantastic, undefeated knock of 68 runs in 30 balls at a strike rate of 226.67.
Overall, he is currently the third leading run-getter of the IPL 2025 with 333 runs in eight innings at an average of 55.50 and a strike rate of 162.43, having on two half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 68 runs.
Tilka Verma, since being retired out against the Lucknow Super Giants, has looked to be a different batter this season. He is the second-leading run-getter for Mumbai this year. The middle-order batter has collected 231 runs in six innings at an average of 46.20 and a strike rate of 141.71, shouldering two fifties at the best score of 59.
Hardik Pandya, the leader, has stepped up in crucial moments of the game, while Santner, the left-arm Kiwi spinner, has changed his pace quite well to deceive the batters. Against CSK, he had 1/14 in three overs.
Bowlers- Deepak Chahar, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, Ashwani Kumar (Impact)
Deepak Chahar kept on bowling the four overs on the bounce against CSK in the last game and picked up the vital wicket of Ayush Mhatre. Trent Boult, who bowled well in the first three overs, didn’t end well in the last over.

Jasprit Bumrah bowled his four overs in the toughest phases of the game and returned with figures of 2/25 in four overs. He also picked up the vital wicket of MS Dhoni to seize the run rate.
