The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), after their first defeat of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 in the previous game, have returned to winning ways against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in an intense contest.

But they will hope to get better at home, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where they lost their opening game against the Gujarat Titans. They need to develop their bowling performance a lot more on those short grounds, especially in the second innings.

And it will also be an important battle for RCB against the Delhi Capitals, as they look to perform at their best against the table toppers.

IPL 2025- RCB Playing XI vs DC- Match 24

Openers- Virat Kohli and Phil Salt

Phil Salt and Virat Kohli provided the Bengaluru side a vital opening stand against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the opening fixture of the IPL 2025. But in the last two games, the England wicket-keeper hasn’t fired at all.

He started the Mumbai clash with a very first-ball boundary before getting bowled on the very second ball. Virat Kohli took center stage after Salt’s dismissal and nailed 67 runs in 42 balls at a strike rate of nearly 160, shouldering on eight boundaries and a couple of sixes. But since the half-century, he slowed down so much that it put a bit of pressure on the side.

Kohli is currently the franchise’s leading run-getter of the season with 164 runs in four innings at a strike rate of 143.85, having scored two fifties.

Middle order- Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar (c), Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Tim David

Devdutt Padikkal, coming at three, provided RCB the vital aggression and fire in the batting department. The left-handed batter nailed 37 runs in 22 balls at a strike rate of nearly 170, thanks to two boundaries and three sixes.

Rajar Patidar and Jitesh Sharma put up a match-winning partnership of 69 runs for RCB in just 27 balls. That provided them with the momentum in the batting order. The RCB captain smashed 64 runs in 32 balls while the wicket-keeper batter remained unbeaten on 40 runs in 19 balls at a strike rate of 210.53.

Tim David and Liam Livingstone can convert the side’s batting into a massive one.

Bowlers- Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, Yash Dayal, Suyash Sharma (Impact)

The biggest focus of the evening was the bouncers from left-arm spinner Kruna Pandya. He foxed the batters with the pacer bounce off the surface and ended with figures of 4/45 in four overs. Will Jacks couldn’t keep the ball on the ground, while Naman Dhir also faced the same issue.

When Tilak Verma and Hardik Pandya were going all guns blazing, it was important for an RCB pacer to put the brakes on the aggression, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivered with the ball. Josh Hazlewood, in a tough contest, ended with figures of 2/37 in four overs.

Even Suyash Sharma was phenomenal for his 0/32 in four overs. Because of his brakes in the run rate, the Mumbai side tried a few funky shots and found the fielders around the park.

At the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB hopes to get the same benefit and control in crunch situations from the bowlers.
