The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) continue to dominate the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, with five victories in eight encounters and a net run rate of +0.472. They defeated the Punjab Kings by seven wickets in the previous away fixture.

Bengaluru’s issue this season has been their home games. In three fixtures at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, they have failed on every ,occasion, with a huge batting crime. Once they sort out their performance with the blade and put a decent total on the board, it will be easier for the bowlers to defend it in the second innings.

RCB will play Rajasthan Royals (RR) at home on April 24, 2025, in their next match of the season.

IPL 2025: RCB Playing XI vs RR- Match 42

Openers- Virat Kohli and Phil Salt

Phil Salt made a cracking start to the tournament. For his aggressive knocks, it was easy for Virat Kohli to play a stable knock at the other end, understanding the situation better and taking it deep.

But the England wicket-keeper batter has lost his charm in the last few weeks. Overall, he has clubbed 213 runs this year in eight innings at a strike rate of 178.99, but he has already experienced two consecutive failures.

The RCB opener’s previous knock of 65 runs against the Royals will offer them so much confidence. Kohli, on the other hand, has played his natural game with full temperament this edition. The right-handed batter has smashed 322 runs in 2025 at a strike rate of 140, thanks to four fifties.

Middle order- Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar (c), Jitesh Sharma (wk), Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Krunal Pandya

It has been a topsy-turvy 2025 for Devdutt Padikkal in the IPL. The number three RCB batter, Devdutt Padikkal, didn’t make a great start to the season before finding pace with 61 and 40* in the previous two encounters. In seven innings, he has accumulated 180 runs at a strike rate of 150.

Rajat Patidar, the leader of the group, has been excellent with his all-around show of batting and leadership. He has used the bowlers beautifully, besides nailing the spinners in the middle overs of the innings.

Jitesh Sharma, the wicket-keeper batter, would take a lot of confidence after playing the match-winning shot for RCB in the previous encounter. His knock has been vital in the lower order of the inning. Tim David, in tough situations, has always shown his power and talent with the bat.

Romario Shepherd’s inclusion has promoted the Australian in the batting order. On the other hand, Krunal Pandya has created a knack for picking crucial wickets at the vital juncture of the game. He is RCB’s second leading wicket-taker of the edition with 10 scalps in eight innings at an economy rate of 9.04.

Bowlers: Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, Yash Dayal, Suyash Sharma (Impact)

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood provided a great exhibition of classical death overs’ bowling. None of the opponent batters were able to get the runs in the last four overs off them. Bhuvi used the new ball quite well inside the first six overs of the game.

Hazlewood is the fifth leading wicket-taker of the season with 12 scalps in eight innings at an average of 20.16 and an economy rate of 8.39, with the best bowling figure of 3/14 in an inning.
