The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have experienced a very irregular season in IPL 2025 with two victories and four defeats in six encounters, to be in eighth position in the points table.
In their last fixture at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Rajasthan faced the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in an afternoon clash and didn’t bat well in the first innings. Their bowling inside the first six overs was not up to the mark as the RCB batters drilled them around the park to get an early advantage.
RR will now face the Delhi Capitals on April 16 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The home side is injured after facing their first defeat of the campaign in five encounters.
IPL 2025: RR Playing XI vs DC- Match 32
Openers- Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson (c & wk)
The RR openers batted with so much fear in the first six overs, including their captain and wicket-keeper batter, Sanju Samson, who made 15 runs in 19 balls before getting stumped against Krunal Pandya.

Yashasvi Jaiswal played a few glorious shots, but the surprising aspect was how he was trying to get the boundaries with the two fielders outside the 30-yard circle. Samson didn’t even try to get the boundaries.
The Royals were happy to get 45/1 in the powerplay, in comparison to which the Bengaluru club scored 65 runs without any damage to kill the game at the beginning. Jaiswal played a fine knock of 75 runs in 47 balls, shouldering on 10 boundaries and two sixes at a strike rate of nearly 160.
Middle Order- Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, Nitish Rana, Wanindu Hasaranga
Riyan Parag looked good with the timing of the shots from the very first ball. The right-handed batter ended with 30 runs in 22 balls at a strike rate of 136.36, shouldering on three boundaries and one six.
His wicket came at the wrong moment for the Royals, who made a surprising decision not to send Nitish Rana up the order.
Dhruv Jurel wasted a few deliveries at the start of the innings, but he gathered the momentum aggressively for his unbeaten knock of 35 runs in 23 balls at a strike rate of 152,17, thanks to two boundaries and as many sixes.
Shimron Hetmyer didn’t get the right elevation and power for his poor knock. It was Rana’s first-ball boundary that carried the side over the 170-run mark in their allotted 20 overs.
Bowlers- Jofra Archer, Mahesh Theekshana, Kumar Kartikeya, Sandeep Sharma, Tushar Deshpande (Impact)
Jofra Archer bowled an excellent wicketless opening over against Phil Salt. The England batter didn’t have any clue of all of the six balls, but luckily got a few boundaries thanks to the inside edge of the bat. The pacer ended with figures of 0/36 in four overs.
Samson didn’t use Sandeep Sharma early with the new ball, despite the pacer carrying a great record against Virat Kohli. Once the latter was set, it was incredibly hard to step his batting. Wanindu Hasaranga and Mahesh Theekshana had a tough day in the office with combined figures of 0/56 in five overs.
