The Rajasthan Royals (RR) made a tough start in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with two consecutive defeats in the event due to their poor batting and bowling performance. But an incredible all-round show has led them to two successive wins in the tournament to get their feet stable.

Rajasthan blew away the Chennai Super Kings in their third game at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, holding their nerve in an intense clash before thumping the Punjab Kings in Chandigarh for the Shreyas Iyer-led side’s very first defeat of the competition.

RR will face the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on April 09, 2025.

IPL 2025- RR Playing XI vs GT- Match 23

Openers- Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson (c & wk.)

At the start of the tournament, Yashasvi Jaiswal hadn’t come to the party yet, while Sanju Samson went through a decent part. But now the tables have turned. The Royals hope to see both their openers fire up with an incredible partnership at the top.

In the previous game, they celebrated an 89-run opening stand in 10.2 overs, where Samson creamed 38 runs in 26 balls. Jaiswal struggled at the start but ended up with 67 runs in 45 balls, shouldering on three boundaries and five over boundaries at a strike rate of 148.89.

Samson is RR’s leading run-getter of the 2025 edition, with 137 runs in four innings at a strike rate of 152.22.

Middle order- Riyan Parag, Nitish Rana, Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel, Wanindu Hasaranga

Riyan Parag remained unbeaten against Punjab in the last game for his excellent knock of 43 runs in 26 balls at a strike rate of 172 to shoulder RR over the 200-run mark in the first innings. They gained a huge 50-run victory at the end to develop their net run rate in the points table.

Nitish Rana fired up with a fine knock of 89 runs against the Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati as he took on Ravichandran Ashwin to nail the off-spinners in all parts of the ground. Dhruv Jurel, quite surprisingly receiving a lot of criticism after being retained by RR, is the second leading run-getter of the IPL 2025 for the franchise.

The wicket-keeper batter smashed 119 runs in four innings at a strike rate of 158.66, while Rana has accumulated 112 runs at 186.66. Shimron Hetmyer’s entry point for the franchise could be a debate for the side, as they can use him better for more overs in the batting.

Wanindu Hasaranga has been decent with the ball, picking up regular wickets in the contest. However, RR hopes to gain a greater batting advantage from the all-rounder.

Bowlers- Jofra Archer, Mahesh Theekshana, Sandeep Sharma, Kumar Kartikeya, Yudhvir Singh/ Tushar Deshpande (Impact)

In both the victories for the Royals, Jofra Archer has picked up wickets with the new ball. Against Punjab, the England pacer ended with 3/25 in four overs, while Sandeep Sharma used his swinging ability for a phenomenal figure of 2/21 in four overs.

Mahesh Theekshana has bowled in the powerplay and the death over for RR, and that seems to be the plan of captain Samson and head coach Rahul Dravid. Yudhvir Singh, who bowled two overs for 20 runs in the last game, replacing Tushar Deshpande, could make way for the return of the Mumbai-born.
