The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have gone through a tough last week in the IPL 2025 with three successive defeats. It was unbelievable how the side failed to chase 10 runs in the last nine balls despite having both their retained players- Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel in the middle.
The inaugural champions are currently in the eighth position in the points table with two wins in seven group-stage encounters at a net run rate of -0.714.
They will now host the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 19, 2025.
IPL 2025: RR Playing XI vs LSG- Match 36
Openers- Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson (c & wk.)
In a 189-run chase, Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal provided the Rajasthan Royals a solid opening start with 76 runs on the board in 8.1 overs. The RR captain nailed 31 runs in 19 balls, thanks to two fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 163.16 before going back to the pavilion due to injury.

His progression in the next game will be monitored. On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal celebrated his successive fifties in the IPL 2025. The southpaw creamed 51 runs in 37 balls at a strike rate of 137.84, shouldering on three boundaries and four sixes.
He is the ninth leading run-getter of the tournament so far, with 233 runs in seven innings at an average of 33.28 and a strike rate of 138.69, thanks to three fifties.
Middle order- Riyan Parag, Nitish Rana, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, Shubham Dubey, Wanindu Hasaranga
Riyan Parag didn’t have a great outing for RR in the fixture, with eight runs in 11 balls, as he missed the straight ball from Axar Patel. However, Nitish Rana absorbed the pressure and smacked a fine knock of 51 runs in 28 balls, thanks to six boundaries and two sixes at a strike rate of 182.14. It was surprising that none of him or Jaiswal walked up to bat in the super over.
Dhruv Jurel finished with 26 runs in 17 balls, but that was not enough to chase down the score. Mitchell Starc used the old ball brilliantly for a reverse swing. Even Shimron Hetmyer was not finding the sweet spot of the bat.
Shubham Dubey came as the substitute in the super over, but only because the RR management wanted to avoid Maheeh Theekshana in the field.
Bowlers- Jofra Archer, Mahesh Theekshana, Sandeep Sharma, Tushar Deshpande (Impact)
Since being belted away for 76 runs without any success in his very first game of the IPL 2025 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Jofra Archer has looked to be a different pacer. He finished with 2/32 against the Capitals and provided early wickets in the new ball.
Meanwhile, Sandeep Sharma had a very good first innings with figures of 0/33 in four overs. He used the variations to fox the batters in the death overs. RR’s fielding towards the back end of the innings didn’t help them at all.
Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga, the two Sri Lankan spinners, had another poor game with combined figures of 2/78 in eight overs. Tushar Deshpande also experienced another bad evening with 0/38 in three overs.
