The Rajasthan Royals (RR) are coming into their very first official home clash against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. They are coming into the clash after the previous defeat against the Gujarat Titans.
The Sanju Samson-led side started the IPL 2025 campaign with two successive losses before opening the account against the Chennai Super Kings at the adopted home ground- Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. They continued the strong show against Punjab Kings before the defeat put them down to the seventh position in the points table.
RR is stuck in the middle-order traffic, and a victory will take them above many sides besides offering them confidence in all-around performances.
IPL 2025: RR Playing XI vs RCB- Match 28
Openers- Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson (c & wk.)
Yashasvi Jaiswal nailed a fantastic 67 runs during the first innings of their second-last game against the Punjab side in Chandigarh. But apart from that, the southpaw hasn’t contributed much to the inaugural champions. In four innings outside the 67-run knock, Jaiswal has scored 40 runs at an average of 10.

Even during the chase against Gujarat, the RR openers nailed the short ball into the hands of Rashid Khan at point and returned to the pavilion for six runs. Sanju Samson, the captain, scored 41 runs in 28 balls with four boundaries and two sixes, but that didn’t look smooth enough.
The 30-year-old has smashed 178 runs in five innings at an average of 35.60 and a strike rate of 150.84 with just one fifty. It’s time for the RR captain to do more with the bat.
Middle order- Nitish Rana, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, Shuham Dubey
Nitish Rana, apart from his 80-run aggressive knock, has not found the right rhythm in the tournament so far. When the Royals needed him the most, he tended to struggle a lot. Against the Titans, the left-handed batter just got one run in three balls.
Riyan Parag made a sound start with the bat for 26 runs in 14 balls at a strike rate of 185.71, thanks to three over boundaries and one boundary. But he also got out at the wrong point. The last hope for the 2022 runners-up was Shimron Hetmyer, who collected 52 runs in 32 balls to keep them in the chase for a long time.
Their impact sub, Shubham Dubey, didn’t make the right impact with the bat. But their issue is that they don’t have any other options in this department.
Bowlers: Jofra Archer, Mahesh Theekshana, Tushar Deshpande, Sandeep Sharma, Fazalhaq Farooqi (Impact)
Jofra Archer, since finding his rhythm against the Super Kings, has looked to be a different beast in the IPL 2025. The RR bowler picked up the early wicket of Shubman Gill with a brilliant in-swinging delivery and returned with figures of 1/30 in four overs at an economy rate of 7.50.
Samson mentioned that Wanindu Hasaranga wouldn’t play the game due to personal reasons. And that cost them in the middle overs. Mahesh Theekshana was drilled for 2/54 in four overs, as was the case with Tushar Deshpande, who ended with 2/53 in four overs.

They need to do well in bowling consistently, especially in a challenging game against the strong top-order of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
