The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have gone off track in the previous two clashes, where they have slipped from comfortable situations on back-to-back occasions. The inaugural champions have enjoyed only two wins in eight group-stage encounters with a net run rate of -0.633.

Sanju Samson, the regular leader of the side, won’t be available for the contest after he picked up an injury against the Delhi Capitals and sat out of the game against the Lucknow Super Giants. The franchise has released an official statement on the veteran recovering from the blow.

RR will travel to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium for the second round of the clash against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 24, 2025.

IPL 2025: RR Playing XI vs RCB- Match 42

Openers: Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Yashasvi Jaiswal

RR has always invested in the young players, and they made a record by going after the 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi. In Samson’s absence during the last game at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, they debuted the kid, and the latter caught the center stage of world cricket.

Suryavanshi used his feet to nail his very first ball over the cover for a six before flicking the leg-side ball into the air with the same result. At no point, he wants to keep the ball on the ground. He ended with 34 runs in 20 balls, shouldering on two fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 170.

Yashasvi Jaiswal celebrated his third successive fifty of the season. The RR openers cracked 74 runs in 52 balls at a strike rate of 142.31, thanks to five boundaries and four sixes. His flawless batting is a plus point for the inaugural champions.

Middle Order- Nitish Rana, Riyan Parag (c), Dhruv Jurel (wk..), Shimron Hetmyer, Shubham Dubey

Nitish Rana, apart from the Guwahati game against the Chennai Super Kings, where he clubbed 81 runs, hasn’t hit the ground running in the other vital encounters for the Royals. The stand-in captain, Riyan Parag, has contributed decently, but he would rue his mistake of not finishing the last game.

He finished with 39 runs in 26 balls at a strike rate of 150, thanks to three boundaries and two sixes. Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer were at the crease when they failed to chase down the easy target in the last two overs against Delhi.

It was the same pair for RR, who fumbled the game against Lucknow. Hetmyer, despite getting retained by the franchise, hasn’t done anything significant in the competition yet. Jurel is also not a player in the lower order.

But the issue for the management is that they don’t have any backup plans. Even with Hetmyer’s failure or poor form, they don’t have the players in the squad to replace them in the playing eleven.

Bowlers- Jofra Archer, Sandeep Sharma, Tushar Deshpande, Maheesh Theekshana (Impact)

Jofra Archer, after a poor start in the season, has made a fiery comeback. In the last game, he finished with figures of 1/32 in four overs at an economy rate of eight. Mahesh Theekshana, on the other hand, has given away 32 runs in four overs without any success.

Sandeep Sharma bowled well in the first three overs before giving away four sixes in the last over. Tushar Deshpande had figures of 1/26 in four overs. Wanindu Hasaranga has done well for his decent figures of 2/31 in four overs.
