Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are coming into the RR vs CSK encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The Royals hope to open their account in the 18th season of the tournament, while the Super Kings want to add more wins at the beginning of the event.
Ahead of the RR vs CSK fixture, the focus will be on both sides’ middle orders. Rajasthan showed trust in the Indian batters to complete the job for them in the new edition. But Yashasvi Jaiswal has failed in back-to-back games, while the stand-in captain, Riyan Parag, hasn’t done well either.

Chennai’s middle order is also under a few questions. Shivam Dube struggled to get the runs on the board, while Deepak Hooda failed to soak up the pressure. Ravindra Jadeja went through a tough time along with Sam Curran, who played a very wrong shot at an inopportune time to put more pressure on their shoulders.

The Rajasthan Royals have decided to keep their former captain and the wicket-keeper batter, Sanju Samson, as an impact player, as he is yet to receive the fitness report.
RR’s Playing 11:
Yashasvi Jaiswal, in the 287-run chase against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, struggled to get the runs on the board, as he nailed the big shot into the hands of the backward point region. Saju Samson has looked good in both the clashes, along with Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer.
But the issue for the Royals has been with their bowling performances. Jofra Archer hasn’t been the same as he was in the last few years. He is yet to take a wicket and has gone for over 100 runs in around seven overs in this season, before the RR vs CSK clash.
Mahesh Theekshana hasn’t worked in the powerplay with the new balls, while Wanindu Hasaranga hasn’t been able to explore the conditions well in the middle overs. Sandeep Sharma and Tushar Deshpande have done well, but they need more inspiration. The RR vs CSK fixture could be a chance for the 2008 champions to open their account in the new season.
RR’s line-up vs CSK:
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag (c), Nitish Rana, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Shubham Dubey, Jofra Archer/Fazalhaq Farooqi, Mahesh Theekshana, Tushar Deshpande, Sandeep Sharma.
Impact Subs: Sanju Samson.
CSK’s Playing 11:
Chennai Super Kings took a gamble by opening with Rahul Tripathi during the opening game against the Mumbai Indians. Tripathi’s struggle against the spinners might have pushed them to make such decisions, as Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain, looked confident for his half-century.
Before the RR vs CSK clash, the pressure will be immense on the middle order of the Super Kings. Shivam Dube, Deepak Hooda, Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja- all of them have struggled in the middle overs. But it was Rachin Ravindra, who stood at one end, and carried them over the line.

He hopes to continue the same performance in the RR vs CSK encounter. But the question would be around Nathan Ellis, who was decent at the death overs. If Matheesha Pathirana doesn’t recover in time for the clash, then Ellis can explore the conditions towards the backend of the innings.
CSK’s line-up vs RR:
Rachin Ravindra, Rahul Tripathi, Ruturaj Gaikwad (c), Shivam Dube, Deepak Hooda, Sam Curran, MS Dhoni (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Nathan Ellis, Noor Ahmed.
Impact Subs: Khaleel Ahmed
