In the four Indian Premier League (IPL) fixtures at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, the teams chasing a total have enjoyed a lead of 3-1 over the teams batting first. The RR vs CSK will be an opportunity for the Rajasthan Royals to open their account in the 18th edition of the tournament.
Most spin bowlers have enjoyed a decent economy rate of around seven at this venue, while the left-arm and right-arm wrist spinners have an economy rate of below eight. The only issue has been with the fast bowlers, who have gone at over 11 on this ground.
RR and CSK’s performance in the death overs in IPL 2025
Going into the last five overs of the inning, Rajasthan Royals needed to defend 34 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders, which was expected to be a tough ask for the 2008 champions. Tushar Deshpande leaked a boundary on the very first ball of the 16th over before Mahesh Theekshana gave away 10 runs in the 17th over.

A better over from the veteran Jofra Archer could have stretched the game a bit more for the Royals. But Archer failed to put pressure on the KKR batters. Quinton de Kock nailed the short opening ball between mid-wicket and mid-on for a boundary before steading the short ball through the square for a huge six.
The next two deliveries were wide outside the off-stump. On the very next legal delivery, Archer was parked into the stands by the South African southpaw as the visiting side chased down the score with 15 balls to spare and eight wickets in hand. Rajasthan seeks a far better death-over performance in the RR vs CSK clash.
Chennai, on the other hand, during the clash against the Mumbai Indians, could not do well in the middle order and at the death overs. Shivam Dube, after a few big shots, struggled to get the ball onto the bat, as the same incident took place with Deepak Hooda. Sam Curran, grilled on the pressure, played an unnecessary shot.
It was down to Rachin Ravindra, who finished the job with a six on the very first ball of the 20th over. Even in the bowling department of the last five overs, Nathan Ellis used the slower balls pretty well to get the wickets and ask tough questions to the power hitters of the Mumbai batters.
He will continue to do the same work in the RR vs CSK game unless Matheesha Pathirana replaces him for the game.
